BLURB:
Ten years ago, he was my brother’s best friend.
The man I sent letters to while they were deployed.
The man I fell in love with.
But then my world crashed around me.
I stopped sending him letters.
A secret flickered to life.
My brother died from PTSD.
And I stayed away from my hometown, too broken to return.
Until a hit and run has me rushing back.
Now, Lucas needs my help.
He needs me to be his wife.
He’s gotten himself into trouble, and someone wants to take him down.
I might be the only person who can save him.
Or I might be the one person who tears him apart…

My Review:
My Rating: 4 Stars
Simone goes back to her home town after her grandmother was involved in a hit and run. It's the first time she's been back for 10 years except when she had to go to her brother's funeral. She hasn't seen Lucas, her brother's best friend, and the man she loved for many years until now. Lucas is not the same man he was before he went to war with her brother and now the two both need a spouse for different reasons. The two end up agreeing to a fake marriage to help the other one out. The only problem is that they are both dealing with traumatic experiences and nothing is quite what it seems in more than one aspect of their lives.
This was a good story with a bit of a mystery thrown in as you try to uncover who is trying to frame Lucas. I also like seeing the friendship between all of the characters and the brotherhood between Lucas and his brothers and how they took care of each other. I also like how both these characters are struggling realistically with the things in their past. The two of them also have a strong bond that even though it's been awhile they still care deeply for each other and want to help the other one out. I don't want to say too much to give it away, but if you are looking for a second chance romance with some mystery thrown in this is the book for you. I do want to warn you that the author does talk about a few traumatic experiences so please look at the warnings if you have things that trigger you.
