My Review:
My Rating: 3.5 stars
Randi has always struggled to get out of the life she was born in. After an old enemy from Harvard comes out of the woodwork and offers her a business proposal it changes her life. Now she's in DC where politics and power run rampage around her life. There she meets Secret Service Agent Trey Benson who thinks she is just like all the other "political barbies" he's known all his life. As the two get to know each other Trey learns that Randi is not the woman he thought she was, instead she's kind of a mess.
The chemistry between Trey and Randi is on slow burn and I liked how Randi is not the typical politician. Trey was cocky, sweet and jaded and made a great male lead. Honestly, I'm not sure how I feel about Randi. She's had a difficult life, but I'm hoping through the series I can feel more of a connection with her. I also enjoyed the side characters that Kennedy wrote, especially Tank. The other characters are more than 1 dimensional. The politics in this book are realistic and everything that Randi and Trey go through are things that probably do go through DC. I liked that aspect too.I am looking forward to the second book to see how "Mess" and "Trouble" deal with the ending of the first book.
Now, you may be asking why I am only rating this 3.5 stars and that's because while I loved Trey I still don't know how I feel about Randi and while their chemistry was hot I feel at times they moved a little too fast. This is the first book of a 5 book series and starts off with Randi's journey to DC. The books follow the two through a 5 year time period.
