Broken Knight- Review

Broken Knight by L.J. Shen

Released: August 22, 2019

Not all love stories are written the same way. Ours had torn chapters, missing paragraphs, and a bittersweet ending.

Luna Rexroth is everyone’s favorite wallflower.

Sweet.
Caring.
Charitable.
Quiet.
Fake.
Underneath the meek, tomboy exterior everyone loves (yet pities) is a girl who knows exactly what, and who, she wants—namely, the boy from the treehouse who taught her how to curse in sign language.
Who taught her how to laugh.
To live.
To love.
Knight Cole is everyone’s favorite football hero.
Gorgeous.
Athletic.
Rugged.
Popular.
Liar.

This daredevil hell-raiser could knock you up with his gaze alone, but he only has eyes for the girl across the street: Luna.

But Luna is not who she used to be. She doesn’t need his protection anymore.
When life throws a curveball at All Saints’ golden boy, he’s forced to realize not all knights are heroes.

Sometimes, the greatest love stories flourish in tragedy.

My Review:
My Rating: 4.5 stars

I've had this book on my kindle since it came out and I just now read and reviewed it. There are many reviews where they talk about how sad this book was and because of some stuff that happened this summer I was only focusing on romantic comedies. This is the second of the All Saints High book and spin-off of the Sinners of Saint books but can be read as a standalone. I would suggest reading the other books though to get a better sense of all the characters. I knew some spoilers going into this and honestly I think it saved me from being blindsided. I'm not going to give spoilers away, however, this book will make you feel. You will feel why Knight is broken and how tragedy can change the course of your life.

While I loved Daria and Penn in Pretty Reckless I only really loved Knight in this story and was indifferent to Luna. Maybe it's because I went through a similar experience as Knight that I felt the bond was a little closer. I did like how L.J Shen showed the growth of both characters. We are not the same people we were as kids and life throws us curve balls. I loved how devoted Knight was to Luna and while I knew where this was going in this story it was about the journey.

The thing about this book though it that it will make you feel. It will make you hurt. It will make you understand why the things in the book had to happen. It has growth, love, tragedy, bitterness, heartache and understanding. Don't go into this book thinking you will survive without feeling.
