The Ex I’d Love to Hate- Blog Tour and Review!!

The Ex I’d Love to Hate, an all-new thrilling enemies-to-lovers, second chance billionaire romance from New York Times bestselling author Nadia Lee is available now!

BLURB:

Grant Lasker is the first guy I fell in love with.

The first guy I shared everything with.

I thought what we had was perfect…until I found out I was just a bet to him.

All the lavish gifts and attention were nothing more than tricks to fool me.

Grant always wins, no matter the collateral damage.

I ran away without a second glance and rebuilt my life, along with the walls around my heart.

Fourteen years later, I manage to find a job that pays enough to keep my beloved grandfather in a private assisted-living center.

There is just one problem…

The person I need to work for is Grant, and he seems to think I’m the one who betrayed him and is doing everything in his power to make my life hell.

But if he thinks he's going to win again, he has another think coming.

Aspen and Grant dated in college until a series of events pushes the two away from each other. 14 years later Aspen gets hired as an assistant, only it's for Grant. A lot of resentment still lingers between the two. Grant is determined to get Aspen to quit, but Aspen needs the money to pay for her grandpa's care. Will they be able to let go of the past?

Honestly, I really liked this book. There was a lack of communication that hurt the duo, but it was believable because it preyed on their insecurities. I thought their were clues to other things the author forgot about later in the book or she just chose a different direction for the story. This was a long book, however I didn't feel as if it was repetitive. I loved that the first part of the book showed Aspen and Grant in college. It showed how they met and how they fell in love and then the misunderstanding that ended up ending them as a couple before going 14 years in the future. I loved seeing the different relationships Aspen and Grant had with their families and how that shaped them into the people they were today. There was also some cameos of Grant's brothers and some quick wit in the story. If you are looking for a enemies to romance to enemies second chance story this book is for you.

Thinking of time and sanity reminds me of the redhead from two days ago. Aspen Hughes was in a ratty T-shirt and faded denim shorts. No makeup or fancy hairdo. But I couldn’t take my eyes off her as she placed her hands on her hips and demanded I do the group paper, her moss-green eyes flashing. Sadie seemed like a lifeless prop by comparison.

That doesn’t really explain it, though. My usual taste is girls with toned bodies who are relaxed and carefree. A girl wound tightly enough to chase me to the polo field and call me an asshole over some dumb project neither of us is going to remember in a month is definitely not my type. Even if she does have curves more fitting for a Vegas stripper than a college kid. That body could revive a corpse, and my dick obviously isn’t immune because it’s getting hard at the thought of her.

It’s not the body, my gut whispers. I’ve been around women who were even hotter. It’s just…Aspen looked at me like I was an annoying pest, which people simply do not do. They’re too impressed by my parents—and their fame—to notice or care that I don’t like or respect them. I shouldn’t put too much significance into her actions, though. She probably doesn’t know who my parents are. Once she finds out, she’ll smile and gaze up at me like I’m some kind of minor deity, like everyone else.

My Review:
My Rating: 4.5 Stars

This is the latest book to include one of the Kingston siblings, Hudson. Hudson is a renowned MMA fighter whose focus in life is being the best fighter out there and is a huge flirt. Maddie Dixon works Social Media for some of the Philadelphia Kings football players and teaches yoga at the same pace Hudson trains. The two have flirted for years, but that is all it has ever been, especially with Maddie having a rough childhood. After Hudson gets injured saving Maddie the two end up spending more time together and the flirtations start to become something more. Can Maddie overcome her past to let Hudson in?

I absolutely love Bella's writing and this book will pull you into the world of the Kingston's and give you all the feels. Hudson and Maddie's friendship involving into something more was well done and I loved how even though Maddie wasn't as experienced as Hudson he never pushed her. He let her lead the evolving relationship. I also loved seeing Hudson's relationship with his siblings being a big thing in this book and seeing it through Maddie's eyes who only has a brother and not a big family like Hudson. If you read any of the Restless King series you see the couples make an appearance in this book and it's wonderful to catch up with them. I don't want to spoil too much in this book, but if you like forced proximity and friends to more you will love this book. I can't help but recommend Bella's writing because she writes fleshed out characters who go through real things.

A creak in the hall a few minutes later has me watching a shadow that stops on the other side of the closed door. My heart races, wondering if Hudson’s going to knock.

But after a minute, the shadow is gone, and the footsteps head further down the hall to the next room. Hudson’s bedroom.

I sit there, paralyzed and debating what to do for at least ten minutes as disappointment chokes me. Until I finally get up, positive this is insane but forcing myself to move until I’m standing in front of his closed door with my hand pressed against it.

“Maddie?” he calls from inside the room.

“Yeah,” I whisper back. He doesn’t say anything, but the door opens, and I swallow my tongue.

Steam is billowing in from the master bathroom, and wow  .  .  .

This man is beautiful. Standing with one crutch under his arm, a towel wrapped around his hips, and his wet hair dripping down his face, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything sexier. I rake my eyes over all the beautiful, inked muscles on display and have to fight the sudden urge to reach out and trace every last line.

It’s a new urge, and I don’t hate it.

“Are you okay, Mads?” He adjusts his hold on the crutch, still favoring his sore knee and searching my face for an answer. “Maddie?”

I take a deep breath to settle my thoughts as they go into overdrive. “I’m fine. I just  .  .  . God, why is it so hard?”

Hudson cocks his eyebrow, and I realize what I said. More importantly, what it sounded like. “Not you, you big goof.”

“I know, sunshine. I just wanted to see you smile. You never smiled tonight. Not your real smile anyway.” Hudson steps back. “Let me throw some pants on.”

“Okay.”

He moves into the walk-in closet, nearly out of view but not completely.

No  .  .  . I can’t tear my eyes away, as the black towel hits the plush carpet, and am rewarded with an unobstructed view of one calf before it’s covered by a pair of dark jersey pajama pants. When he steps back into the room, he’s shirtless with just those pajama bottoms hanging from incredibly lean hips. Of course, this king has those damn dips that form a perfect V leading to  .  .  . trouble. Yup. I bring my eyes back up to meet his and see a devilish spark staring back at me. Definitely leading to trouble.

Hudson ambles across the room and presses a button that closes the drapes, then sits on the bed with the TV remote in his hand. “Come on, Mads. I want to see what happens in the next Harry Potter. Watch it with me.”

And like a moth to a flame, I throw caution to the wind and walk into the room.

My Review:
My Rating: 5 Stars

This book starts right where Changing the Game ended and starts with Cooper's point of view of the cliff hanger. I will tell you when I read the first part of this duet I was not happy where it ended, talk about a cliffhanger that came out of nowhere! But I loved how Bella stitched this book together and gave it the perfect ending. This book definitely has some angst and a twist I don't think most people will see. I loved seeing the character growth of the main characters and I really hope she writes more about some of the side characters because I would love to see them get their happily ever after.

This book shows that not all relationships are easy, but if you truly want to be with someone you have to be willing to put in the work. I absolutely love Cooper and even if I didn't always agree with him I understood why he was doing what he did. I loved how Carys grew in this book too. She knew what she wanted and she went after it knowing that it wasn't going to make everyone happy. She had to do what was right for her. This duet is one you have to read to grow as a reader. I don't want to spoil it, but even if you think this might not be your type of book, you should read it anyways. Normally I am not a fan of step siblings, but I am so glad I gave this duet a chance.

EXCERPT:

When I find room 309, the door is cracked open, so I knock quietly before walking in.

What I see is a sucker punch to the gut. Carys is curled up in a recliner, wearing a tank top and sweatpants, with a tiny little baby lying against her chest in nothing but a diaper and a big pink bow. My heart screams mine, while my brain screams run.

Her eyes are closed, and she’s humming a soft song while both the baby and Emerson sleep.

When I close the door behind me, Carys’s eyes slowly open, and a tender smile spreads across her gorgeous face. Every ounce of hurt I hold over this woman washes away in an instant, and I want nothing more than to wrap her in my arms. But that can’t happen now.

“Hey,” she whispers.

I take a step closer and stare in wonder at the tiny baby. “Hey. How are you doing?” I ask just as quietly.

“Well,” she whispers, smiling, and my entire body relaxes. “I’m not the one who gave birth, so I’m doing pretty well. A little tired.” She shrugs. “And my hand may never quite heal from the insane hold Em had on it last night, but . . .” She angles herself to give me a better view of the sleeping baby. “Little Miss Elodie was worth it.”

“She’s beautiful.” I trace a finger gently along her tiny arm, and her fingers spread wide open, startled. “She looks like Linc,” I whisper in awe.

“Wait until she opens her eyes. They’re all Emerson. But everything else is all her daddy.” Sadness creeps into her voice as she adjusts Elodie and stands from the chair.

“Do you want to hold her?”

I shake my head. “I don’t want to break her.”

Carys laughs at me. “You won’t break her, Coop. Sit down, and I’ll lay her in your arms.”

I hesitate for a moment before sitting down and then hold still as Carys carefully transfers a sleeping Elodie into my arms. The baby roots around for a minute until she gets comfortable, then yawns so big, I half expect her jaw to come unhinged. Her warm skin is soft under my hand, and for a moment, I forget about the shitstorm currently surrounding us.

Forget that I’m furious with the woman in front of me.

Forget that Linc isn’t about to walk through that door and hold his daughter.

But that peace is short-lived.

Carys takes a step back and covers her mouth with her hands. “You look really good holding a baby, Cooper.” Pain laces her voice, and the vise around my heart tightens.

“I never cared about that, Carys. We could have adopted. We could have fostered. We could have used a surrogate.” She closes her eyes, but I don’t stop, making sure to keep my voice calm and quiet so I don’t wake Elodie or Emerson. “We could have had as many years together as we wanted before we had to figure it out. But we would have figured it out together because I loved you.”

She gasps just as I realize what I said.

“Loved.” She holds my eyes as tears well in hers. “Past tense.”

“We can’t do this here, Carys. It’s not the—”

“No,” she cuts me off. “You wouldn’t talk to me at the hospital. You wouldn’t even look at me yesterday. Don’t tell me now’s not the time, unless you’re ready to tell me when that time will be. I need to talk to you, Cooper. I still love you. I always have, and I always will. I shouldn’t have taken away your choice when I did. I was so wrong to end things.

You have to believe me.”

Her words loosen the tightness I’ve been holding onto for a month, but there’s nothing I can do about them now. “Believing you isn’t the issue, Carys. Trusting you . . . That’s a different story.” Saying the words feels wrong, but if I want to keep her safe, I need to keep her at a distance while we figure this shit out.

Carys flinches and steps back as if I physically hurt her. She runs her hands through her hair and turns away for a moment. When she turns back, a determined glint dances in her green eyes. “You can be as angry as you want, Cooper Sinclair, but I love you, and I know you love me too. So be pissed. Be hurt. Be as mean to me as you want. I’m not going anywhere this time. I’m not making that mistake again.”

The spark I love in this woman is firing in a million vibrant colors as she fights for us.

I just wish she’d have done it sooner.

Tease- Blog Tour, Review and Excerpt!!

Could Hutton French and I actually be right for each other, or is it all just one big tease?

TEASE, an all new sizzling friends to lovers, fake engagement small town romantic comedy from USA Today and #1 Amazon bestselling author Melanie Harlow, is now available!

BLURB:

I didn’t mean to say I was engaged to a hot billionaire–it just slipped out.

In my defense, I’d had a really bad haircut, a really strong drink, and I was trying to save face in front of the Mean Girl at my high school reunion.

Lucky for me, I happen to know a hot billionaire. Hutton French and I have been friends forever, and even though big social gatherings are not his thing, I called him from the coat closet and begged him for a favor–show up and play my fake fiancĂ© for the night.

Except that word of our engagement spreads like wildfire. Our families are ecstatic.

We’re front page news. My little food blog is launched into the stratosphere.

Of course, I offer to set the record straight right away, but Hutton wants to give it a little time–the phony engagement will keep his matrimony-mad mother and every matchmaking granny in town off his back.

He even suggests I move in with him to make the ruse more real.

And we don’t stop there.

We practice kissing. Undressing each other. Saying things–and doing things–we’d never dare if we weren’t pretending. Because it’s all for show, right? We’re just role-playing. Hutton doesn’t want a real relationship, and I don’t want to get hurt. But the more time we spend faking it, the more I start to wonder.

Could Hutton French and I actually be right for each other, or is it all just one big tease?

"Want something to drink? Whiskey or scotch?”

“No, thanks. Mostly I just want to take these heels off.”

“Leave them on.”

I was already bending down to unbuckle one ankle strap. I looked up and saw him standing there with his glass in his hand. “What?”

“Leave them on. And come over here.”

I straightened up and took one tiny step.

“On your hands and knees.”

My breath caught. I could feel his eyes on me. Instantly I understood what this was, and even though I was a little nervous, I wanted to play along. I wanted to please him this way.

The only problem was, I wasn’t entirely sure I could get to my knees in this tight dress. But I said a quick prayer and dropped to my knees on the carpet in one smooth motion. Thankfully, the dress material had some stretch, and the seams didn’t pop.

“Good girl,” he said quietly, igniting a firestorm in my blood that surprised me. “Now come here.”

My heart thrummed fast and loud as I lowered my palms to the floor and slowly closed the distance between us. I’d never done anything like this in my life—who am I right now?—but I liked the way it made me feel.

Tempting. Seductive. Alluring. I’d never thought of myself that way before, but here and now, in this tight little black dress with the red satin heels, crawling toward a gorgeous, powerful man in a suit in our Manhattan hotel suite? My billionaire fake fiancĂ©? It was easy to imagine I wasn’t myself at all.

When I reached his feet, I sat back on my heels and looked up. Our eyes met. His lean, muscular silhouette looked imposing above me. Even that rebel lock of hair had been tamed into submission tonight.

He took another sip of his drink and set the glass on the table. Pulled the chair at the head of the table aside. Loosened the knot in his tie. “Are you okay?”

“Yes.”

“If there’s a point tonight where you are not, you should tell me.” He slipped the tie from his collar.

I swallowed hard. “Like a safe word?”

His mouth hooked up on one side. His hand freed the top button of his shirt. “You already have a safe word?”

“No,” I said quickly. “I’ve never needed one before.”

“You do now.” He undid a second button. “So what will it be?”

Of course, I couldn’t fucking think of anything, and I panicked.

“Roy Kent,” I blurted.

He cocked his head, his hand still on his shirt. “Who’s Roy Kent?”

“Never mind. I’ll think of another one.”

Do not say Oklahoma.

Do not say bumblebee.

I racked my brain for something else. “Romeo,” I said breathlessly. “That’s what I’ll say. Romeo.”

He set his tie on the table and offered me a hand.

Placing my palm in his, I rose to my feet. “Is anything going to hurt?” I asked, picturing whips, chains, ball gags, metal cuffs and clamps, shiny rubber gloves.

“I don’t need to inflict pain to feel in control, if that’s what you’re asking.”

“Okay. Should I—”

But that was all I got out because he spun me around and clamped a hand over my mouth, pressing his body tight against my back.

My Rating: 4.5 Stars

Felicity is trying to show everyone at her high school reunion that she is not the same person she was back then. After a really strong drink, and I was trying to save face in front of the Mean Girl from high school Felicity accidentally lets it slip that she is engaged to a hot billionaire. Good thing for Felicity, her best friend Hutton fits the bill of a hot billionaire. After begging and pleading with him because he is not into social gatherings he finally relents. The news flies through their small town until everyone knows about their engagement. Felicity tells Hutton she will tell everyone the truth, but he tells her to wait because it's getting the grannies and his mom off his back. As the two pretend their engagement they start practicing kissing and undressing each other until the line between reality and make believe relationship starts to blur.

Honestly I really enjoyed this small town, friends to lovers book. Hutton was a cute socially awkward man who always had a thing for his best friend, but never thought anything could come from it. Felicity had a crush on Hutton when she was younger. but he never made a move so she kept him in the friend zone. I love how Hutton and Felicity bring out the best of each other and I loved watching them fall for each other. Honestly, I would always recommend Melanie's books because I love her small town romances and this is one of my favorites of the Cloverleigh farms books. This can be read as a standalone.

My Rating: 4.5 Stars

The Kingston family ends up buying out Daphne's dad's Hockey Team. One of the stipulations is that the Kingston family must keep all of the employees for a year. Daphne ends up being the eldest Kingston's assistant. Max is trying to do his best as the eldest Kingston and show he has what it takes to not only be a leader but build a winning team. Daphne was completely blindsided with her father's choice to sell and wonders where that leads her and her family's legacy with this hockey team. Both Max and Daphne are head strong, but as they start to communicate they learn maybe they aren't so different after all. Now the two have to realize, maybe they aren't enemies after all and maybe they can help the other achieve their goal.

This is an amazing book. I love how Bella writes her main characters and doesn't add unnecessary drama just for the sake of drama. I also love seeing the other Kingston family members and just how they are one big family that's a little dysfunctional, but still loves each other. The only thing I wish I had at times was how everyone was connected. It's been awhile since I have read the other Restless Kings series and I sometimes forget how everyone was connected. Other than that this is a great sports romance that will suck you in and make you forget all your troubles. I will definitely be reading more books by Bella Matthews.

EXCERPT:

“We shouldn’t do this, Miss Brenner. You work for me.” The words feel like acid leaving my mouth as everything south of it rebels at the idea of rejecting her. But I refuse to be the guy who takes advantage of the situation.

She untangles her hands from the front of my shirt and runs them up my forearms. Her fingers trace the lines of my tattoo. Her dark-purple nails are a stark contrast to her pale skin.

Nails that would feel amazing scouring my back once we’re both stripped of our clothes. “I do work for you, Mr. Kingston. And you know what the one good thing my piece-of-shit father did for me was?” Without giving me a chance to answer, she leans closer, bringing her lips to the shell of my ear and dropping her voice. “He gave me a twelve-month contract. You can’t fire me for an entire year. We might as well have some fun. I promise you, nothing needs to change. You’ll still drive me crazy Monday morning.”

“I’m not looking for a girlfriend, Daphne.” She’s saying all the right things. But when something seems too good to be true, it usually is.

“Good. Because the last thing I need is someone else who thinks they have a say over the way I live, Max. I’ve had enough of that to last a lifetime.” Her eyes dance between mine. “And I’m not looking for it now.”

I move closer, erasing any space between us. “Are you sure?”

My entire body riots at the idea that she could change her mind. But I ask it anyway because it’s the right thing to do.

Daphne nods her head with a beautiful smile on her lips. “Words, Miss Brenner. I need to hear the words.”

Excitement is hot.

But consent is fucking sexy.

Her fingers tighten on my arms. “I’m sure, Mr. Kingston. Now get me out of here.”

I reach into my pocket and pull three-hundred-dollar bills from my wallet and throw them on the bar. “Hey, Sawyer.” I wait for him to look up. “Can you tell Becks to catch an Uber back?”

Sawyer looks between Daphne and me and raises a brow. “Yeah. I’ve got ya covered.”

I frame Daphne’s face in both my hands. “Do you need to text your friends?”

“I’ll do it from the car.”

“No, baby. You’re going to be doing other things in the car. Text your friends.”

Broken King- Excerpt, Review and Blog Tour!!

Broken King, an all-new second-chance romance full of heat and emotion from Bella Matthews, is now live!

BLURB:

One night.

I let myself have one night with him after avoiding him for years.

But one night was all it took for history to repeat itself.

Cade St. James was my past. He was the boy who stole my heart before he left for the Marine Corps. Now he’s back in Kroydon Hills, and there’s no mistaking he’s all man.  A former MMA champion, running his own gym, and taking care of his adorable little girl. And I have to tell him our one night together is going to make him a father again.

Our timing has always been wrong.

I can do this on my own if I have to.

I don’t need to be saved.

I’m a King, not a princess.

I can save my own damn self.

Scarlet Kingston has always been too good for me.

My Review:
My Rating: 4.5 Stars

Scarlet is the  the vice president of Public Relations and Marketing for the Philadelphia Kings and is perceived as an ice queen to those who don't know her. While at her brother's title fight Scarlet runs into Cade St. James, a close family friend and a boy who stole her heart in high school before he joined the marines. The two decide to let the sparks fly again between them for one night only and then go back to pretending they don't know each other, except their one night ends up with Scarlet pregnant. Now Scarlet has to tell Cade he's going to be a father again. The former MMA champion, Cade, is a single dad to his little girl and running his own gym while training others in MMA. Cade and Scarlet now need to decide what kind of relationship they are going to have for the baby's sake and learn to trust each other again.

Honestly I loved Scarlet's character. She was stubborn, cold and broken, but she refused to take any problems lying down. She was a fighter and stood up for herself and those she loved. She was definitely flawed in some aspects, but it was only because of the way she was raised. She was not an ice queen once you were in her heart. Cade was the perfect match for Scarlet. He didn't just bow down to her, but knew when to push or pull back with her. I loved seeing him as a father to his little girl and how important she was in his life. He is definitely a swoon worthy male character. The two of them were sizzling off the pages no matter what scene was going on between them. I loved how they brought out the best in each other. I also loved seeing Scarlet and Cade with their families and how Scarlet's family reminded me of my own at times with trying to butt in to her life.

Scarlet

“Amelia, I’ve got to go. I’m in the parking lot and need to go inside before I’m late.” I love my sister. Although we only officially met her a year and a half ago, she turned out to be the missing piece of our fucked up family. But since my nephew was born a few months ago, she’s so thrilled to talk to someone who isn’t babbling nonsensically back at her, she’s pretty hard to get off the phone.

“Okay. Are you still coming over after?” Maddox, my nephew, begins whining in the background, causing Amelia to jostle the phone.

It’s been a long Friday. But I cut out of work early for this appointment and am definitely looking forward to drinks with my sisters. “Wouldn’t miss it. See you then.”

Amelia helps our sister Lenny and I even out the estrogen to testosterone ratio in our family.

It will never be even.

There are five guys to three women and one five-year-old diva.

But at least now, we’re a little closer to a balance.

I enter my doctor’s office, sign in, take a seat to wait, and pull out my tablet to scroll through the emails that have come through since I left the office. As the vice president of Public Relations and Marketing for the Philadelphia Kings, there’s no such thing as time off, not even for a doctor’s appointment.

It doesn’t take long for me to clear out my inbox, responding to those that were urgent and forwarding the rest to my assistant, Connor. However, in that short amount of time, the already crowded waiting room appears to have hit maximum capacity. The sea of pregnant women surrounding me seems to be closing in. When I switched from the pill to the shot a few months ago, I was looking for something a little more user-friendly. I’d tried a few different birth control pills over the last few years, and the side effects weren’t for me.

The shot has been great.

Less migraines to deal with, and I’m a much happier woman. It would be even better if I didn’t have to come back in every few months.

But for now, it’ll do.

When a woman, who looks to be about a hundred years pregnant, sits down next to me with a toddler covered in peanut butter and jelly by her side, I hug the opposite side of my chair and pray the nurse calls me quickly.

Don’t get me wrong, kids are great. I love my nephew and my little sister.

But I love when I get to give them back too.

I’m not a woman who gushes over other people’s kids.

Most babies look more like small aliens than perfect little angels.

This . . . I take stock of the waiting room around me and grimace. This madhouse surrounding me today is just not for me.

* * *

Thirty minutes later, I’m sitting on the exam table in a stiff, pale-pink paper robe when my doctor finally walks in. “How are we doing today, Scarlet? I was expecting to see you two weeks ago for your follow-up.” She pulls up my chart on her tablet, then sits down on her little stool on wheels.

“Sorry about the delay. I had to reschedule my appointment. Something came up with work. But I’m feeling fine, Doctor Esher. No complaints. Just ready to get this exam over with and get on with my night.” Unless you count how damn cold it is in this room. I could easily complain about that. It’s not like they don’t know their patients are going to get naked in here. Would it kill them to turn the heat up just a tad?

Doctor Esher scrolls through what I’m guessing is my chart before rolling over toward the table. The smile that was on her face moments ago is gone, replaced by a purposefully blank expression. “Scarlet, have you had any issues since the last time you were here?”

“No issues. Not so much as a cough. Why? Is something wrong with my bloodwork? I wasn’t supposed to be fasting, was I? Because I had coffee before I had it done the other day. I thought you said it didn’t matter and we just needed to make sure the hormones from the shot didn’t throw off anything else.” I get migraines. Bad migraines. Sometimes debilitating ones. They started when I was in high school. I’ve tried every pill out there, and they all exacerbated the crippling headaches. The shot was my next best option. And as far as I’m concerned, so far, so good.

Doctor Esher clears her throat. “Scarlet, according to your bloodwork, you’re pregnant.”

I tilt my head to the side and study her. I don’t think she’d kid about something so serious, but . . . “Is this a bad joke? I mean honestly, that really isn’t funny.”

Her face stays unmoving.

No reaction.

She’s not laughing.

“Scarlet.” Her tone has dropped an octave, no longer light and airy like it was when she greeted me. “This isn’t a joke. I wouldn’t do that to you. According to your bloodwork from last week, you’re pregnant. Judging by your hCG levels, I’d guess you’re about thirteen to fourteen weeks along.”

“I don’t know what to tell you, Doc. But the draft was last month. I’ve barely had time to sleep, let alone sleep with anyone . . .” I trail off as I run through my mental calendar.

The draft was last month, yes. And the month before that was nonstop, go, go, go. It always is leading up to the draft, leaving no time for any extracurriculars. I was supposed to meet up with a friend of mine in March. He flies into Philadelphia for business every few months, but his trip was cancelled. And we never rescheduled.

I count back fourteen weeks.

But . . . Oh, hell no.

Hudson’s title fight in Las Vegas was fourteen weeks ago.

Son of a bitch.

I wasn’t concerned with a broken condom.

I was covered with the shot.

What are the odds that both forms of birth control would fail? Apparently, higher than I knew.

“I can’t be pregnant.” I meet Doctor Esher’s knowing brown eyes and cringe. “I would have known by now. Wouldn’t I?”

I want to scream at her warm smile. “Not necessarily. At this point in a pregnancy, the telltale sign for most women is a missing period. But you already weren’t having a monthly period to miss because of your birth control. It’s still too early to feel the baby move for a few more weeks yet. And not everyone experiences morning sickness.”

You’ve got to be kidding me. My chest tightens as the room begins to spin around me.

I am Scarlet fucking Kingston.

I am stronger than this.

I do not panic in public.

“Could you please run the test again? I have to believe there was a mistake.”

There. I sounded in control. Inside, I might be hyperventilating, but she doesn’t need to know that.

Slow deep breaths.

That’s better.

A mistake.

This has to be a mistake.

But even as I say it to myself, I think back to that night in Las Vegas and know there’s no mistake. If ever there was a man whose sperm could leap tall buildings and blow their way past all hormones in one bound, it would be his.

Taste- Blog Tour, Review and Excerpt!

TASTE, an all-new sexy, stranded enemies-to lovers rom com from USA Today and #1 Amazon bestselling author Melanie Harlow is live now!

BLURB:

The last person on earth I want to be stranded with is Gianni Lupo.

But thanks to the blizzard of the century, I’m trapped in a roadside motel room with that cocky bastard for two straight days.

With one small bed.

Some women might thank Mother Nature for delivering a polar vortex that maroons them with six feet of solid muscle, those deep blue eyes, that sexy grin--but not me. I’ve known Gianni Lupo all my life, and he’s never brought me anything but bad luck and trouble.

So when the tension between us explodes with enough fiery heat to melt my icy defenses, I should have known what the disastrous end result would be--

A big fat plus sign.

After the snow melts, I’m left with more than just memories of the night we spent keeping each other warm. And he might be a rising star on the culinary scene, but he’s got no idea how to handle this bun in the oven.

He says he wants to do the right thing, but I’m not about to spend the rest of my life feeling like someone settled for me.

But just when I think I’ve got Gianni Lupo all figured out, he gives me a taste of the man he could be, of the family we could become, of the way he could love me if I let him.

I’m terrified of falling for him.

But one taste might be all it takes.

My Review:
My Rating: 4.5 Stars

Ellie and Gianni have been around each other since they were 5 years old, especially with their moms being best friends. However, Gianni was not the nicest kid growing up with Eliie and liked to mess with her because she always gave a reaction. Now the two are 23 years old and working at Ellie's parents restaurant together with Gianni being the chef and Ellie being the wine connoisseur and have to get along together at least during the dinner hours, but not without a lot of picking on each other and bickering. The two get trapped in a motel room due to a blizzard and with nothing else to do and being trapped together one thing leads to another and they have sex. Ellie finds out she's pregnant and the two now have to decide if what they want in life is what it was before they got stranded together in the motel or if things are changing and maybe Gianni isn't the man she thought he was, but something better?

This was honestly a great story. I loved the bickering and the hot sexual tension between Gianni and Ellie. I loved how Gianni made it so I just couldn't hate him. He had some growing up to do, which is normal for someone in their early 20's as he tries to figure out his life. Ellie was wonderful too, trying to protect herself, but knowing deep down she was falling for Gianni. I think I now have to go back to read the French series, which is based on their parents because I truly enjoyed this book so much! If you are looking for a hot, funny, enemies to accidental baby book this is definitely a book you should read! The chemistry was off the charts, the family moments were great, friendship was perfect, the writing made you feel everything both characters were going through. I think I have said this before, but Melanie is just a terrific story teller and just makes you fall in love with her characters. I had high hopes for this book and it did not disappoint.

EXCERPT

I sat at the foot of the bed and dialed Winnie’s number. She picked up immediately.

“Ellie?”

“Hey.”

“Thank God! You guys okay?”

“We’re fine.” I watched Gianni unwrap a candy bar and lean back against the headboard. “We found a motel with a vacancy.”

“You mean you’re staying in a motel room together?” she asked, loud enough for Gianni to overhear.

“Yeah. And there’s only one bed.”

She laughed. “How’s that going?”

“Fine.”

“You guys are getting along?”

Gianni made a lewd gesture involving his fist, his tongue, and his inner cheek. I gave him the finger. “As well you’d expect.”

“I can’t wait to hear about it.”

“We’re going to try to get out of here as soon as we can in the morning. I’ll let you know when we’re on the road.”

“Sounds good.” She laughed again. “Sleep tight.”

“Oh. We will.” I eyed the length of the bed. “We have no choice.”

After ending the call, I opened the Truth or Drink app on my phone and picked up my wine. “Ready to play?”

“Hit me.”

I scrolled through the options. “Do you want to play normal mode, party mode, or dirty mode?

Gianni looked at me like I was crazy. “Duh.”

I sighed and reached for my wine. “Okay, fine. I feel like I’m going to regret this, but dirty it is.”

“Can I take my pants off?”

“No. What’s your age range for a one night-stand?”

“Hmm.” Gianni thought for a moment.

“Please say at least eighteen.”

“No teenagers. I’ll say twenty to forty-five.”

“Forty-five? Really?”

He shrugged. “I think mature women are hot. But I can’t go near fifty because that’s my mom’s age and then it would be weird.”

“Right.”

“So what about you? Same question.”

“I’d have to say . . . thirty to forty.”

He looked offended. “Why thirty? You’re only twenty-three.”

And so was he, which was why I’d said it. “I know, but I think older men are just better in bed.” (I’d actually never been with anyone over twenty-eight.)

“In what way?”

“Just . . . more patient. More knowledgeable. More generous. Guys in their twenties think they’re all that just because they have younger bodies, especially if they’re—you know—well-endowed. But it’s not just the size of the boat. It’s definitely the motion of the ocean.”

He harrumphed. “You’ve been in the wrong boats.”

The Play-Review!!

THE PLAN by Karla Sorensen

Release Date: February 9

BLURB:

Have you ever fake dated your bodyguard? I don't recommend it.

Especially if he's anything like Erik Wilder: former football player, world class know-it-all and unapologetic grump.

To be clear, I didn't want a bodyguard (hence the fake dating idea). Most days, I can’t figure out why he wants the job either. We drive each other insane, probably because we’re as opposite as two people can be.

He’s suspicious, never talks about his past and has the comfort skills of a cactus. I’m a happily ever after kinda girl who knows exactly what she wants out of life.

Erik’s words might say that the lines have to stay firm between us, but those dark eyes of his? They tell another story when he looks at me.

He’s just as stubborn as I am, but when our fake dating plan starts to feel a lot more real, it's only a matter of time before his professional walls come crashing down.

I just have to hope my heart doesn't get buried in the rubble.

My Review:

My Rating: 4.5 Stars

This book is about Allie and Luke Pierson's (from the Washington Wolves book, The Bombshell Effect,) daughter, Lydia. Lydia does not want a bodyguard but her parents are worried about her when her dad contacts a former Washington Wolves football player turned bodyguard to protect her. Erik has not had the easiest time trying to work out his own demons after deciding to leave football and is a complete grump. Lydia finally agrees on letting Erik be her bodyguard but she doesn't want him in the shadows and instead brings up the idea of fake dating him. As the two spend more time together it's clear there is chemistry between them, but Erik has a job to do and keeps trying to keep the lines between them clear, however like all good stories those lines start to blur as they get to know each other. Erik is a closed book, but Lydia can't help but try to see what is on his pages.

This is definitely a grump and sunshine romance trope with a touch of football, bodyguard and slight age gap romance. As much as Erik tries not to let anyone in there was just something about Lydia that wormed it's way through. I felt bad for Erik at times because he felt broken and in turned just made himself into a broody, grumpy man because he didn't want to get hurt again. I loved how Lydia was always trying to understand who Erik actually was and how brave she was for overcoming her fears and focusing on the future she wanted. This is definitely a slow burn romance that will have you on the seat of your chair as you uncover Erik's past along with Lydia, but it is worth it with the little bit of angst thrown in, not so much from other characters but from internal, which is so much better! You can't help but feel the little victories along with Lydia as she makes Erik less grumpy and as he tries to resist her charm.

Karla has once again made me want to dive more into the Football world and read about Faith (Lydia's sister) and hopeful for more books about Erik's family. One of the things I have noticed in Karla's book is her characters have that familial bond and that at least one of the character's has a great relationship with their family.

A reformed bad boy turned hot teacher.

And after one spur-of-the-moment Vegas wedding... her husband.

Jordan Benoit and Fletcher Landry have been best friends since they were six. He's always been The Guy. When she needed picked up, cheered up, or lifted up--like literally, to see the stage at a concert--Fletcher was the guy.

So when her boyfriend dumps her--on national TV--Fletcher immediately gets on a plane and comes to her rescue.

But being The Guy 24/7 is a lot. He just wants everyone to give him a freaking minute to get this marriage thing right. Including his sexy, sweet new wife who he's wanted for three years. Who is exasperatingly, temptingly all-in from minute one.

Jordan knows what she wants. A life in her hometown. A job with alpacas. And Fletcher.

My Review:
My Rating: 4.5 Stars

I really liked this book, so why not 5 stars? Easy. I'm selfish and wanted more Jordan and Fletcher. Fletcher and Jordan have been best friends for over 20 years and know everything about each other. When Jordan's boyfriend dumps her on National TV Fletcher doesn't think anything of it and jumps on a plane to Vegas to make sure she's okay. After a night in Galveston three years ago Fletcher wants Jordan as more than his best friend and now that she's finally single he can try, except Jordan just wants to get married and live in her hometown and be with Fletcher. Now after saying I do in Vegas the duo comes back to Auture and has to figure out how to go from being best friends to husband and wife. After all he knows all the embarrassing stuff and now he has to figure out who Jordan is as a woman and his wife. Jordan is excited to start their new relationship, but Fletcher just wants to take things slow and date his wife. Will he be able to resist his new wife or will she get her way?

I loved Jordan and Fletcher's story and this is definitely my favorite out of the Boys of the Bayou Gone Wild series. Fletcher is so used to coming in at the end and making the grand gestures that he's trying to figure out what it's like working things out through the middle. Jordan and Fletcher's memories of years past are sweet and exploring each other as lovers is hot. I also love that their friendship is still perfectly intact and just adds to their relationship. This book has the perfect amount of sweet, steamy, bantering and funny moments. Plus throw in animals and a big crazy family and it is just even better.

There is even an extra epilogue of Tori and Josh having their baby.

EXCERPT

“I also think that I need to—”

“Marry me.”

“Date you.”

They spoke at the same time.

Then stared at each other.

“What?”

“What?”

They spoke simultaneously again.

“I was trying to give you some freaking space before I said anything.” He seemed very annoyed suddenly.

She leaned in, bracing her hand on the seat between them. “The last person I need space from is you, Fletcher. I mean, we’ve basically been dating for twenty years.

If dating is about getting to know someone and figuring out how well you fit with them and figuring out if you want to spend the rest of your life with them…we’ve done that.”

He shook his head. “You have got to be one of the most exasperating people in my life.”

Her eyebrows rose. “Considering your twin brothers are Zeke and Zander, being one of the most exasperating people in your life is pretty huge.”

He shook his head. “Absolutely exasperating. To think I could’ve kissed you when we were standing next to a king-sized bed and you were only in your bra and panties and you would have been all in.”

Jordan felt her cheeks flush, but she grinned widely. “I really am a pain.”

“You really are.” His gaze dropped to her mouth.

Jordan felt a zing of excitement go through her. She really wanted him to kiss her.

“I think you dating me is a great idea,” he said after a moment.

Thank God.

“You’re sure you’re done dating other people? Having fun with all those girls? All the casual relationships?” she asked.

“If it means I get to be with you? Absolutely.”

Her stomach swooped, harder and faster than before. “This isn’t crazy?”

“It makes a hell of a lot more sense than anything else. Like you dating other men. Or either of us being with anyone else.”

“We’ve never talked about this before.”

“You’ve been taken,” he said simply.

Right. That was true. And Fletcher was too good of a guy to go after another man’s girl.

She still felt compelled to say, “It’s been three years since anything happened.”

“Again, because you’ve been taken.” His voice dropped. “Only because you’ve been taken, Jordan.”

Her heart skittered at that and she wet her lips. She thought about her next words carefully. Several seconds ticked by. Then she said simply, “Prove it.”

Fletcher reached out, wrapped his big hand around her wrist, and tugged her close. He cupped the back of her head and brought her in until they were nose to nose.

“This changes everything,” he said. Almost as if it was a warning.

“I know.”

“I’m the last frog you’re ever going to kiss. So be sure you want it now.”

That was exactly what she’d wanted to hear without even realizing it.

Call Me Crazy-Blog Tour, Review and Excerpt!!

BLURB:

 It was the perfect plan.

I needed a wife--temporarily--in order to inherit the family business.

And she needed a favor--the kind that takes nine months to deliver.

We had it all worked out, from the no-touching policy on our wedding night (her rule) to the no-falling-in-love decree (mine). She’d marry me, I’d give her the means to have the baby she’d always wanted, and one year later we’d amicably part ways with no hassle, no demands, and certainly no regrets.

After all, Bianca DeRossi and I are experts at infuriating one another--we’ve been doing it since we were kids. Trouble is, she grew up gorgeous and feisty, and she still knows exactly how to get under my skin.

And that wedding night? Well, it doesn’t exactly go down hands-free.

Then she moves in with me, and I really start to lose my mind. From her sexy little pout to her wicked sense of humor to those meatball sandwiches she makes just because she knows they’re my favorite . . . I find myself wanting to break every rule we put in place.

Our story was never supposed to end with happily ever after.

But call me crazy, I just might be in love with my wife.

My Review:

My Rating: 4.5 Stars

Enzo needs a wife to inherit the family business while Bianca just wants to have a baby. So why not just join forces and they both can get what they want? Except Enzo drives Bianca crazy and vice versa. They both want something that the other can help deliver and so they propose a marriage of convivence. Bianca will help Enzo get his families business by marrying him and Enzo will help Bianca have the baby she always wanted and if they hate each other it means they won't fall in love right? Except as this scheme continues they start to become friends and there is definitely mutual attraction and even with the rules in place sometimes you can't stop your heart from loving someone else. Will they still part ways after a year or will they realize they love each other and maybe this marriage could work?

I loved how feisty Bianca was. She called Enzo on his crap and I loved that they didn't try to change each other. They just finally got to know each other behind the insults and barbs. Their chemistry was scorching and playful and they just fit together like two pieces of a puzzle you aren't sure are going to fit until you try piecing them together. This is a great story that brings back the other couples from the previous books in the series and gives a glimpse into a possible story that might be coming out too. This book can be read as a standalone, but this whole series so far is really great and I recommend you to read it. There are so many things I could say about this book and how great it is, but I don't want to ruin anything so just go read it. It's a great small town, big Italian families, marriage of convivence, enemies to friends to lovers book. You won't be disappointed, even if at one point you are yelling at the characters to just quit overthinking everything.

EXCERPT

“So how’s your ego tonight? A little bruised, huh?”

“It’s fine,” I said, tightening the knot in my tie. “Reina obviously wasn’t the right choice for a wife. I’m glad she said no.”

Bianca started to choke on her olive. “Wait a minute.” She fanned her face and managed to swallow. “You proposed to—to—what was the little girl’s name?”

“Reina. And you’ve got no room to call someone little, Tiny.”

As I’d hoped, the old nickname drew a brief scowl from her. “We’re talking about you right now. Did you actually propose tonight? Like with a ring?”

I exhaled, regretting I’d mentioned it. “Yeah. I did.”

Her eyes lit up. “Let me see it.”

“No.”

“Why not?”

“Because you just want to rub salt in my wound.”

“For fuck’s sake, Enzo. You’re not wounded. You don’t even love this girl, you just needed to put a ring on her finger so your dad would put your name on the company letterhead.” She held out her hand. “Now give it here.”

Something told me I was going to be sorry, but I reached into my jacket and pulled out the ring box.

She took it from me and opened it up. “It’s pretty,” she said with grudging admiration. Then she squinted at it, pushing her glasses up her nose. “Did you have it engraved?”

I picked up my bourbon and took a hefty swallow. “No.”

“But it says . . .” She set the box down and pulled the ring from the velvet to examine it closer. Then she started laughing. “‘Love Always, Ricky?’”

“Give me that.” Leaning forward, I tried to swipe the ring from her hand, but she held it out of my reach.

“Just a second! I want to try it on.”

I thumped against the back of the booth, picking up my drink again and tossing back the rest of it. Could this night get any worse?

Bianca slipped the ring on her finger—it fit—and held out her hand, studying it.

“So what did you say?”

“I proposed.”

“But how? Like, did you say, ‘You’re the love of my life and I want to be with you forever’ kind of thing?

”“Uh, not exactly. I didn’t want to lie to her. I just, you know, gave her the ring.” I made a grand, sweeping gesture with one hand.

“But you must have said something.”

“What difference does it make?” I asked irritably.

“Look, I’m only trying to help you. You obviously blew it tonight, and by your own admission, you need to find a Lucy for your Ricky sooner rather than later, right?”

I looked around for Lara. I needed another drink. And then a ride home.

“Right?” Bianca prodded me with her foot under the table again. “So let me help you.”

“The only way you could help me is to marry me,” I grumbled, waving Lara over.

“And since that’s out of the question, this discussion is over.”

“Well, wait a minute. Who said it’s out of the question?”

I stared at her like she’d sprouted horns. “Huh?”

Bianca continued to study the ring on her finger. “I’m just thinking out loud here.

But it seems to me we each have a goal, and they could both be accomplished with one simple—fake—relationship.”

I shook my head, as if to clear it, but the fog remained. “I know I’m drunk, but what the hell are you talking about?”

She sighed and picked up her martini for a sip. “I’m talking about the fact that you need a wife to get what you want. I’m willing to be that wife—temporarily, and under the strictest of conditions—if you’ll agree to give me what I want.”

I shook my head. “Oh, no. No fucking way. I see what you’re doing here. I’m not paying you to fake being my wife.”

Bianca rolled her eyes. “Give me a break, Enzo. I don’t want your money. Nor do I need it.”

“Then I don’t understand, ”I said, feeling—once again—completely baffled by a woman. “What could you possibly want that I could give you?”

The smile that crept over those hellfire lips should have been a warning. “A baby.”
