My Review:
My Rating: 3 Stars

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.I am trying to keep this review spoiler free.  I hated the last books cliffhanger and that played a huge part in this book. I thought while in the books Seth seemed to grow in the series I feel like Laura regressed. She is supposed to be a woman in her 20's however she acts very immature, especially when she has to give hard news to people she loves. I guess I would give this 3 stars only because I did enjoy this book better than the last two, especially how Seth deals with everything that is thrown at him. As I was telling a friend I think the author dragged this story line out too much. These are fast books to read because of the way they are written and the number of pages in the books. This book does end on another cliffhanger, but it will end up following a different character and the fate of Seth and Laura is told by the end of this book.

EXCERPT

Check out this excerpt from book 1, Hard to Love:

I nudge my nose against hers and whisper, “You did what you had to do.”

“Exactly.” Both of her hands wrap around mine when she speaks. And I kiss her again, but she pulls away.

“I have to get ready,” is the excuse she gives me. Her ass sways as she walks, tempting me even though she doesn’t seem interested.

“You wanna?” I ask her, and when she turns to look at me with a hint of confusion, I thrust my hips in her direction.

She only laughs before telling me no and saying I’m a shitty Romeo.

“What if I kiss you here?” Getting on my knees at the edge of the bed so I can tower over her as she stands at the end of it, I suck her neck. I feel her thighs hit the edge of the bed and hear her moan before I plant a single kiss there and pull back.

“You’re hot,” she tells me with a moan and smiles. “But I don’t want to be late, and you’re not getting laid right now. You should come up with something better while I’m getting dressed.”

Damn it. I watch her walk away.

“You know all my lines already,” I call out to her as she closes the bathroom door, leaving me with blue balls in her too-small bed. Even being shut down I’m smiling, because she’s all right and she’s happy.

We’re all right. Everything is going to be alright.

Not even five seconds pass before the bathroom door opens again. I only raise up my head, to look at her.

She clucks her tongue and puts both hands on the door again. Her small breasts have a bit of weight to them and they sway when she sways.

“Sometimes I do feel crazy,” she tells me and I see the hurt there, plain as day in her eyes as they gloss over.

“You’re not crazy,” I say. I’m quick to sit up but before I can get off the bed, she’s already walking to me. I wait there on the edge, the bed bowed in the center from my weight.

She stops before she can walk between my knees. When she’s hurt, all I want to do is love her. Lay her down and fuck her until the sad eyes are only in my memory.

Crossing her arms, her breasts are pushed up. She is not helping my situation at all. “Tell me what you need, Babygirl ,” I speak softly and caress her, placing a hand on each of her elbows. I know what she needs.

She finally decides on her next words. “I love you , and you need to make this up to me.”

“Get on the bed,” I tell her, standing up so she can take my place.

“That’s not—”

“Get your ass on that bed.” I’m firmer this time and she can’t hide the smile. She gets on the bed on all fours before rolling onto her back and lying down for me.

“Knees bent, legs spread,” I tell her, and the grin widens even with her teeth sinking into that bottom lip.

I make my way between her legs; she has to move her heels out further so my shoulders fit between her knees…

Beefcakes Review and Excerpt!!

BLURB:
Things are about to get sticky...

I might as well permanently add the label "Ex" to my name. I'm an Ex-Mr. Universe. Ex-Mr. Olympus. An Ex-Hollywood Stuntman. But no one from my small hometown cares anything about that. They only care that I'm the ex-boyfriend to the beloved Mayor's daughter, Elaina Dyker.

But the meme about us sure went viral fast. My small hometown has become positively infested with tipsy bridesmaids looking for my erotic cupcakes.

Now Hollywood's knocking again—and this time they want me and my ex, Mr. Beefcake and Ms. Prude, to star in a reality show.

My Review:
My Rating: 3 Stars

Neil left town 10 years ago without a good-bye to his family or his girlfriend Elaina. Now he's back 10 years later to help his brother run the family bakery and take care of his mom while she is getting chemo. After a rough start to a delivery of cupcakes for a bachelorette party where his ex is the maid of honor there is now a meme of the two and business hasn't been better.

Elaina has gone through a lot that has made her distrustful, especially with Neil as the two try to navigate living together in a small town. This book took a little time for me to like the characters and I was so excited about the blog that I accidentally asked two different places for the book! I felt that Elaina was too stuck up at times and didn't seem personable. However, as the book peels back the layers of her character I began to understand her and even see where she came from. Neil seemed okay, but for me nothing really stood out about him. I did end up liking him as the book went on and I liked the two together. This book does have a little angst and I wish it would have had more humor in it because the humor that was put in it was great. I also thought the reality show was going to be a bigger part of the book, but I feel it was just put in when the author needed help bringing the plot farther and not a huge part of the book like the synopsis states. Overall, this is a book that ends up growing on you as you continue to read it and I did like it by the end.

EXCERPT

I arched my brow at her. “I bragged about knowing you so well…but man. I did not see this almond croissant massacre coming. What do you have against almonds? Or was it the amount of butter that offended you? Because as a fitness expert, let me tell you butter isn’t the enemy. Sugar is the enemy.”

She laughed. “I, uh…I might have some anger management issues.”

I took the bag from her and peeked in. There were knuckle marks against the outside of the croissant. Literal knuckle marks. I barked a laugh. “Elaina Dyker. Did you punch the croissant?”

She laughed, pressing her lips together as though this would hide the fact that I saw her adorable little giggle. She brought her thumb and forefinger up beside her temple. “Maybe a little.”“Did you even try a bite?”

She shook her head no. “I like my routine. I like my daily lunch of yogurt and almonds.”

I made a face. Because she had to be exaggerating. Sure…she liked them. But having that same thing every day? Even chocolate cake every day would get tedious.

“You can like yogurt and almonds but still indulge every now and then, you know.” I reached in and pinched off a piece of the smashed croissant, holding it out toward her lips. “C’mon. Live a little. I promise you, it is actually healthy, if that’s your concern.” Not that she needed to be concerned about that. “Almond flour. Gluten free. Grain free. Only two net carbs. The only sugar is the honey in the honey roasted almonds and the natural sugar in dates.” Her eyes grew wide at that and I knew I had hooked her.

She reached out her hand to take the piece of croissant from me, but I pulled back. “Nuh-uh,” I teased. “We can’t have your fingers getting sticky. Might ruin that fancy suit you’re wearing.”

She rolled her eyes, but parted her wet lips, her tongue peeking out just enough for me to place the croissant on top of. She moaned as soon as it hit her mouth, and her eyes fell closed as she slowly chewed and swallowed. “That’s…that’s healthy?”

I nodded. “See? I’m not just a pile of muscles. I’ve got some talent, too.”

Her head fell to the side. “I never said you weren’t talented. I just wish you wouldn’t show off quite so much of your other assets.”

I grinned. “I thought you liked my assets?”

“I do,” she answered absentmindedly, then immediately shook her head, realizing what she’d said. “I mean, I did.”

About Katana

As an author and a story-teller, it is the lifeblood to which my ideas take flight. And I believe in giving credit where credit is due. Occasionally someone (ie – my husband) will try to secretly switch out my beloved regular coffee for decaf. I always know the difference. ALWAYS (I’m looking at you, SEAN).

I am incapable of achieving the perfect ponytail. I’m dyslexic. I can never wear white without spilling on myself. And I’ve never read Pride and Prejudice (gasp!). When I was younger and stole my mother’s Harlequins to read beneath the covers with a flashlight (seriously, did we ALL do this? I think we did.), I wanted to read about the tough as nails heroine. The perfectly imperfect girl with quirks and attitude and sass.

And the anti-heroes who were anything but “Prince Charming.” Forget the knight on a white horse… give me the bad boy on a motorcycle.

So, now, I write those romance novels I craved to see on the shelves all those years ago—the sassy heroines. The badass heroes. I spend my days in the throes of my imagination, and am loving every minute of it. I can travel anywhere and become anyone I want to be. One day, I’m a mechanic in Boston and the next, I’m a vampire stripping in Las Vegas.

Since penning my first novel back in 2012, I’m now an international author with 15 published books, in a wide range of contemporary romance genres–(Paranormal, New Adult, Small town, Erotic Suspense… you name it!).

After living for a decade in Brooklyn, NY, I took the plunge and moved to beautiful (although kinda chilly) Portland, Maine. I now live full time in ‘Vacationland’ with a kind of mean cat, a mellow chihuahua, and a very NOT mellow lab-pittie mix. Oh, yeah… there’s a husband who draws comics somewhere in that mix, too. I can usually be found in a coffee shop with my nose in my laptop wearing fabulous (albeit sometimes impractical) shoes.

I love connecting with readers and fellow sassy storytellers, so feel free to drop me an email at katana.collins@gmail.com or connect with me on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (@katanacollins). You can find a list of my available books over on my Bookshelf or if you’ve already read a book, it would make my day if you wrote a review! My Review:
My Rating: 4 Stars

Savannah is a single mom to her 6 month old son Sully. Her ex was a jerk when she found out she was pregnant and now she thinks she can't pick out a good man. When her brother's geeky friend comes to live with her and help her with Sully she thinks everything will be okay. Except her brother's geeky friend isn't so geeky anymore. Now he's a ripped man with tattoos and she's wondering if letting him stay with her is a good idea anymore. With the help of her friends she is going to go on 4 first dates with the guys they choose for her. Maddox has had a crush on Savannah since he was a teenager and after seeing her again it doesn't stop the feelings he has from growing. Now he has to convince Savannah he's the right guy for her and Sully.

This was a great book that anyone who loves romantic comedies and romantic movies will love. It has a little bit of those swoon-worthy moments, a lot of chemistry and even some great examples of friendships. I was rooting for Maddox for the first part of the story and it only grew as we learned more of his story. There is little angst and it just leaves a smile on your face. This was another great book from Erin McCarthy.

EXCERPT

I woke up with a start, sitting up in panic. There was drool in the corner of my mouth. Why was I in bed? Where was my son?

I stumbled out of bed, heart racing.

I remembered almost immediately that Maddox had arrived and had told me to take a power nap. Right. Geez. I slowed down in the hallway, putting my hand onto my chest to take a deep breath and calm down. Sully was fine. He was with Maddox.

But when I went into the living room, they weren’t there. I realized the bathroom door was closed and the shower was running. Hold on. If Maddox was in the shower, where was Sully? Was he lying on my bathroom floor, which I had to admit, hadn’t been cleaned recently? The thought of my child rolling around on that cold, damp germ-riddled floor had me opening the bathroom door to rescue him.

Sully wasn’t on the floor. He wasn’t anywhere to be found.

My panic kicked into high gear again, and without hesitating, I ripped back the shower curtain to demand Maddox explain where the hell my child was. The words died on my tongue. Because Sully was in the shower with Maddox, looking pink and chubby and delighted, hand out in front of him to catch the water as he rested comfortably on Maddox’s hip.

Maddox’s naked hip.

Maddox, who didn’t look pink and chubby and delighted.

Maddox, who looked like a hard, sexy-as-hell, bad boy.

His head was under the water, body turned toward me so Sullivan was out of the direct line of the stream. Which meant I could see every single full-frontal inch of Maddox. He was hard. Everywhere. Muscles on muscles, decorated with tattoos over a good fifty percent of his incredible body. Incredible and firm body.

I tried not to look at everything. I really tried. But my gaze seemed to have a life of its own and took a peek at his lower body.

My mouth went dry. My cheeks hot.

That was a big cock.

Inches from me.

“Hey, is everything okay?” he asked, pulling me out of my dumbfounded stupor.

I yanked my gaze back to his face, mortified.

“You didn’t sleep very long,” he said when I just stared at him. He didn’t look even remotely uncomfortable with the fact that he was standing under a stream of hot water totally naked in front of me.

Finally, I pried my tongue off of the roof of my mouth. “I’m sorry, oh my God. I didn’t mean to…” I gestured to his body. “I just woke up and I didn’t know where Sully was and I freaked out. I’m not used to having help…” I trailed off, pressing my lips shut.

Maddox just gave me a grin. “Not a problem. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you. I should have told you I wanted a shower.”

Sully reached for me, bless his little heart. He saved me from further embarrassment.

“Grab a towel before you take him,” Maddox said. “He’s slippery.” He looked down at Sully and bounced him on his hip a little. “Aren’t you, little man?”

Now that my eyes were studiously focused above the waist, and I’d dragged my sex-deprived mind out of the gutter, I was amazed at how at ease Maddox was with my son. He’d been made to hold a baby, and as I reached for a towel, I felt a yearning for a father for Sully for the first time ever.

This was all really confusing, dangerous, and potentially disastrous.

I needed sleep and sex, clearly.

Towel in hand I got as close as was necessary to take Sully safely without touching any of Maddox’s naked body. My cheeks were hot. “Maybe I can take a shower after you,” I said. “I think I’m on day three without one.”

“You could hop in now,” he said. “There’s room.”

Maddox said it like it was totally normal. Like he wasn’t naked in front of a woman who’d never seen him naked before. Like he had seen menaked before, which he most definitely hadn’t. Like we were a couple with a baby and not old friends, if you could even really say that. It wasn’t like I knew Maddox. We’d never talked about anything real.

He’d just always been around our house with Steven.

This new dynamic was bizarre for me.

“Why are you teasing me?” I asked, genuinely curious. And again, no filter. “It was always the other way around. I teased you because I was older.”

His eyebrows shot up as I took Sully from him and wrapped him fully in the towel.

“Am I teasing you? Is that what I’m doing?”

“Well. Yes. Aren’t you?”

He put his head under the water and ran his hand over it. A few water drops arched out and landed on my arm. So much wet skin. Everywhere, just skin and wet.

Lord, I was losing it.

“I was flirting, not teasing. There is a difference.”

That befuddled me. “Why?”

“Because you’re an attractive woman and I’m a normal guy who likes to flirt with women. Or maybe I’m just being friendly.”

I backed up, needing space. The room was warm and humid and I was having a very difficult time not looking where I shouldn’t look. “This arrangement isn’t going to work if you do that. Say suggestive things all the time.”

“Why? It’s not a big deal.” Maddox stared at me with those dark eyes. Intently. “Is it?”

What the hell was he really asking me? I had no idea.

I was flustered and I took another step backward. “Maddy. Stop. You’re barely out of high school and I’m a mother. You’re going to be my nanny. We have to be professional. Maybe that’s not the right word, but you know what I mean. Friends who are helping each other. Platonic friends. Not flirty. You’re like a little brother to me.”

The look he gave me was smoldering. His nostrils flared. His shoulders tensed.

He paused with the bottle of shampoo in his hand. “Sure,” he said, his casual voice completely at odds with the intensity of his expression. “Whatever you want, Savannah. I promise not to flirt with you.”

Then he grabbed the curtain and pulled it shut, blocking him from my view.

Good. Great. Perfect. Glad we had established boundaries. That was the way it needed to be.

I had no business behaving in any other way than as a big sister to Maddox.

So why did I feel so disappointed?

Because I didn’t look at him and see a kid brother anymore. I hadn’t known him in years and he was different now. It was terrifying.

I took my son out of the bathroom and to my bedroom to get him diapered and dressed.

Maybe it was time to start dating again. Over a year without a date or sex was clearly too long.

I was an eternal optimist. I believed in a happily ever after. I could watch romantic comedies for seventy-two hours straight. I loved love.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t very good at it personally.

My friends all told me I was too quick to overlook red flags and to give people second chances. The first was probably accurate. The second I stood by. Everyone deserves a second chance. But my bullshit meter was definitely broken.

Sully’s father had looked great on paper. A contracts lawyer. Apartment in SoHo.

Wealthy parents who had given him a private school education in Manhattan. He’d said he was interested in a relationship. In leaving behind his playboy twenties and settling down into something “real” since he had turned thirty.

Apparently, an unplanned pregnancy had been too real.

I had expected him to be shocked and not entirely thrilled with the news. I had not expected him to be livid. When I had told him I was having the baby, he’d punched a hole in the wall, terrifying me. He’d said terrible things, accused me of entrapment.

No happily ever after.

Just me getting the hell out of there and vowing to stay the hell away from Adam.

It was probably the first time I would not have given someone a second chance. Not that he’d wanted one, but my concern had shifted from my own personal feelings to concern for my unborn baby.

The maternal instinct was strong. Like the force.

I wanted no part of a father being around if he resented it.

Laying Sully on my bed, I rubbed his soft skin with the towel and felt my heart swell with love for him. He was perfection even if his sperm donor had been, well, not so great.

I hated to think of him as a dick. Even if he was one.

Moving quickly before Sully objected, I got a diaper on him and a clean onesie.

Then little khakis and a blue sweater. The fact that they made khakis for six-month-old babies gave me a happiness I couldn’t even express. Could anything on the planet be cuter?

I picked him up and gave him a belly kiss. “You look like a little man,” I cooed to him.

“He looks like a Best Buy employee,” Maddox said from the doorway. His expression was amused.

I frowned. Maddox was standing there in his towel. “What do you think he should wear, a skull and crossbones? He’s six months old.”

“That or maybe a puppy T-shirt or something. What you have on him now is what my grandfather wears to church.”

Offended, I wanted to exit my bedroom, but he was blocking the door. “You have a lot of opinions for someone who isn’t a parent. I’m the fashion expert, remember? I can handle dressing a baby. My baby.”

He held his hands up, nearly giving me a heart attack when his towel slipped. He grabbed it before it dropped to the floor. “Sorry. I was just teasing. I would never judge you on how you parent. I just thought since we’re friends, we can be cool with each other.”

That flustered me. I had really thought this was going to be a lot easier. More comfortable. But Maddox was confusing me. “I guess that’s fair,” I said, because I didn’t know what else to say. “I did used to tease you a lot when you were a kid, like I said before.”

He was leaning on the door frame, showing no signs of moving or getting dressed or even putting the towel back in place. He was just holding it in front of his junk, but his hips were exposed.

“No, you didn’t. Not really.” His voice was soft. “I took a lot of crap from other kids for being the poor kid with the hot, young mom, but you weren’t like that. You were nice to me, Savannah, and I appreciated it. More than you know.”

My shoulders relaxed. I felt a warmth for him that was more familiar territory.

Maddox had been a quiet kid, Steven his primary friend. I had felt sorry for him because he’d lived over a restaurant in downtown Stroudsburg while the rest of us in our school lived in suburban houses. His mother had been a waitress, very young, a MILF before the term had existed. Guys had always been catcalling her and flirting with her and she’d been sassy, flipping them off and hurtling wisecracks back.

She’d called Maddox “Weirdo” all the time. It had seemed to be an affectionate nickname, but not one I would have enjoyed.

“How is your mom?” I asked. “And your brother and sisters?”

He finally wrapped the towel around himself fully, tucking the edge. “She’s good. She’s freaking out about turning thirty-nine, but otherwise she’s great.”

Holy cow, his mother was only thirteen years older than me? That would have made her fifteen when he was born. Having been raising Sully on my own for six months at my age, I had a whole new respect for his mother.

“The kids are all mostly normal, mostly not assholes.” There was warmth and pride in his voice. “Mike is great, too. I never thought I wanted a stepfather but he’s an alright guy. He’s the one who got me interested in ink. And motorcycles.”

His stepfather owned an auto body shop back home and he’d seemed successful, moving Maddox and his mother into a colonial before they started producing children one after the other. They were a cool family, with artistic children, and yes, skull and crossbones on their clothes. In comparison, my family had been very traditional. My mother was a teacher, my father an accountant. There was a lot of khaki and beige in our house. I was comfortable with beige. I wanted a colonial in neutral paint colors someday.

I glanced at Maddox’s chest. I couldn’t help it. It was right in front of me. “I’ll make some dinner while you get dressed and you can tell me all about your ink.”

“Sounds like a plan. Here, give me the baby so you can do your thing in the kitchen.” He reached out for Sully.

When he did, the knot on the towel gave way a second time and it pooled at his ankles. He didn’t react at all to being fully naked.

He just took my son, saying, “I didn’t mean to mock your threads, little man. It’s not your fault your mom digs khakis.”

He turned and walked down the hallway, ignoring the towel, and giving me a mouthwatering view of a very tight ass.

Note to self: Maddox was comfortable being naked.

I scooped up the abandoned towel and debated whether that was the world’s greatest news or the worst.

Meet Willow Winters

Willow Winters is so happy to be a USA Today, Wall Street Journal and #1 Contemporary Best Selling Author!

Willow started writing after having her little girl, Evie, December 2015. All during her pregnancy with Evie she continued to read and she only wanted to read romance. She was reading a book a day — sometimes two.

In January 2016 Willow was staying up late with Evie and just thinking of all these stories. They came to her constantly so she finally sat down and just started writing.
She always wanted to do it so she figured, why not? Today Willow cannot be happier for making that decision!

Beefcakes-Release Blitz and Giveaway!!!

BLURB

I might as well permanently add the label "Ex" to my name. I'm an Ex-Mr. Universe. Ex-Mr. Olympus. An Ex-Hollywood Stuntman. But no one from my small hometown cares anything about that. They only care that I'm the ex-boyfriend to the beloved Mayor's daughter, Elaina Dyker.

And now, ten years later, I'm back, helping my siblings run my mother's bakery while she takes on chemo. What should have been a routine cupcake delivery turns into utter chaos when the bachelorette party thinks I'm a stripper. And what's worse? Elaina is the maid of honor.

But the meme about us sure went viral fast. My small hometown has become positively infested with tipsy bridesmaids looking for my erotic cupcakes.

Now Hollywood's knocking again--and this time they want me and my ex, Mr. Beefcake, and Ms. Prude, to star in a reality show.

It could solve all my problems—except her.

How to make a Thin Mint Cocktail with Katana Collins

AUTHOR BIO

I love coffee.

I spend my days in the throes of my imagination and am loving every minute of it.

My Rating: 3 stars

Zach is CEO of his family's company, but wants to expand the business and can't without getting his trust fund. The only way to get his trust fund is to wait until he's 40 or getting married. After Paige walks into his office needing help he decides to enter into a business deal that she will be his significant other and he will help her with her problem. Paige is hesitant at first, but after a little prodding decides to go with it.

The chemistry between the two is definitely simmering as the two get to know each other better and what once was a business agreement starts to turn real. The only problem is that Paige doesn't know if it's real or fake anymore. I liked Paige, she's sassy and doesn't let Zach boss her around. While this story was predictable it was still cute. If you like the fake relationship turned real this would be a great story for you.

Five First Dates-Sneak Peek!!

Five First Dates, an all-new fun and flirty rom-com from New York Times bestselling author Erin McCarthy, is coming March 23rd, and we have the FIRST look!

Take Two-Review

BLURB:

Who says you can’t marry the same mistake twice?

Certainly not Nya Perez...because that’s precisely what she’s done.

Liam Watts is the bane of her existence.
Her first love. Father of her child. And breaker of her heart.

Oh, he’s also her ex-husband. Well, he was, anyway...right up til this morning, when she woke up beside him in a Vegas hotel room, sheathed in satin and tulle with a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach.

If it were just between the two of them, an annulment would be the obvious solution. After all, they wouldn’t be the first to marry and divorce at the little white chapel in the span of twenty-four hours.

But their daughter’s greatest wish has just been granted, and if there’s one heart Nya wants to protect more than her own, it’s Ellie’s.

So, she promises to give it six months.

There’s no way she’ll be swayed by his thick southern drawl, those well-defined abs, or that annoyingly delectable scruff lining his cheeks.

Nope. She’s got it all under control. Six months of playing house, then everything can go back to the way it was before.

But first she’ll have to muddle through marriage with Liam—take two.

My Review:
My Rating: 4.5 stars

This book was hilarious! I had students asking me what I was watching because I was trying so hard not to laugh loud while they worked on various projects. Liam and Nya used to be married when they were younger and while they are kicking butt at co-parenting without being together their daughter wishes they were a "normal" family. After a drunken night the two wake up married again. Nya ends up agreeing to try again to being married to Liam for 6 months. Liam knows he messed up in the past and he wants his family back. There was no cheating and it shows Liam redeeming himself in the eyes of Nya. The chemistry and banter between Nya and Liam make this book. I don't want to give too much away and while there were a few predictable things that happened I still really enjoyed this story. This is a second chance romance with a awesome couple, great secondary characters and hilarious writing. I will definitely be checking out more of her work.

AUTHOR BIO

Heather M. Orgeron is a Cajun girl with a big heart and a passion for romance. She married her high school sweetheart two months after graduation and her life has been a fairytale ever since. She’s the queen of her castle, reigning over five sons and one bossy little princess who has made it her mission in life to steal her Momma’s throne. When she’s not writing, you will find her hidden beneath mounds of laundry and piles of dirty dishes or locked in her tower (aka the bathroom) soaking in the tub with a good book. She’s always been an avid reader and has recently discovered a love for cultivating romantic stories of her own.

Taming Hollywood's Baddest Boy-Review!!

BLURB:

Do people say they hate someone’s guts so that they can still fall stupidly, head-over-heels in love with the other parts?

Asking for a friend.

Taming Hollywood’s Baddest Boy, an all-new hilarious enemies to lovers standalone from New York Times bestselling author Max Monroe, is available now!

Okay, fine. I’m not asking for a friend.

I’m asking for me—and I’m begging you to tell me that the practice of falling in love with your should-be-enemy is common.

Please tell me that I’m not the only person to track down a guy—who used to be Hollywood’s baddest bad boy before he left LA for good—at his off-the-grid cabin in

Alaska, show up unannounced, and find him gloriously naked.

This probably happens all the time…right?

Tell me I’m not alone in my stupidity—that I’m not the only woman who would fall for gorgeous blue eyes and a sexy devilish smirk, even if they belong to a broody, mysterious jerk.

Please. Please. Please. Tell me I’m not alone in this.

For the love of everything, I need all the supportive girl power I can get if I’m going to convince Luca Weaver to come back to Hollywood—otherwise known as the place he hates so much that he ghosted Oscar-level success and escaped to no-man’s-land for the last eight years just to avoid it.

Yeah, don’t worry—that smoke you’re smelling isn’t your house catching fire as you read this…it’s just my career and what was previously known as my heart going up in flames.

Gah. Is it just me, or am I totally, completely, and utterly screwed?

My Review:
My Rating: 4 Stars

Billie works in Hollywood as a PA and is looking to be a more permanent fixture with the company she's working with. She's currently competing with errand boy Charles and the one thing they need is a great actor for a new movie they are about to start production on. Trying to stay on her bosses good side she suggests Luca Weaver. The same Luca Weaver who disappeared from Hollywood 8 year's ago and was the notorious bad boy of Hollywood. Now Billie has to track down Luca and convince the recluse to read the screenplay and do this movie. The only problem? Luca doesn't want to go back to Hollywood and he's turned seriously broody since he's been gone.

This was a hilarious enemies to lovers trope. Billie is tenacious in getting Luca to sign on to this movie, but she might have met her match with his stubbornness. The only thing Luca doesn't realize is that the reason Billie is so stubborn is because she has a fear of failure and she won't be giving up. This book has everything a good rom-com needs, a little bickering, some romance, sizzling heat, and a little angst. If you have never read a Max Monroe book you need to remedy that as soon as possible and this is just as good of a book to start as any of their other books.

EXCERPT

Billie

Naked lumberjacks are all the rage. Or is it that they’re full of rage?
I’m not entirely sure, but I think maybe, just maybe, it’s a little bit of both.
Standing beside a hot tub outside of a rustic Alaskan cabin is a bare-chested,
handsome-as-hell lumberjack of a man, and he is as naked as the day he was born.

“Who the fuck are you, and what the fuck are you doing here?” the big, burly man
with a scruffy beard and piercing blue eyes asks me brusquely.

And holy hell, what a question that is.
I started this journey in a meeting in LA, promising my boss the world, continued
it with a plane, a car, a hike and kayaking adventure in a cold, rainy Alaskan setting,
and in a highly unanticipated twist, I’m ending it in what must be an issue of Playgirl
magazine come to life.

And boy oh boy is the centerfold pissed…

“Hello?” he questions harshly. “I said, who the hell are you?”

As hard as it is, given his clothes-less state, I force myself to take a good,
scrutinizing look at the rest of his face. I’m here for a reason, and with nothing more
than a ramshackle convenience store owner named Earl’s vague instructions to go on, I
can only hope that the here I’m at is the here I’ve spent days in a plane, car, and kayak
looking for. In addition to a remarkably carved line on the inside of each hipbone, the
angry man standing boldly above me has a strong jaw covered by a beard, a little scar
above his right eye, miles of muscular, tanned skin, and messy, light-brown hair. I have
to look a little closer to confirm my conclusion through the rolling waves of distrust and
hatred coming off him, but when I focus hard enough, the star-quality glimmer in his
eyes is undeniable.

For the love of pancakes at a Sunday morning breakfast, it’s really him.
Luca Weaver, Hollywood’s former baddest boy—the man I’ve nearly killed myself
to find—is right in front of me, and he is naked.

At my non-answer, his jaw turns to stone. “I asked you a question. Either answer
it or get fucking moving.” I jolt at the rumble of his voice, but my feet do nothing to take
me in any direction. I am rooted to the spot, utterly awed over the fact that I’ve actually
managed something as impossible as finding Luca Weaver and all of my normal
functions are rendered useless. He scowls, unimpressed with all the hard work I’ve put
in—work that he obviously doesn’t know about. “You have five seconds before I come
back out here with my shotgun.”

“Uh…” I fumble, trying like hell to grasp the English language once again. I may
be distracted, but on some level, I understand the importance of getting my shit together
enough to at least prevent a shotgun from joining our little meet-and-greet.
But my brain is bus-y. And slow.
Because Luca Weaver looks damn good without any clothes.
Eight years older since the last time he graced the covers of Hollywood gossip
magazines, Luca is a man to whom time has been seriously kind. Either his genetics
are just that good, or there’s some kind of sexy voodoo in the Alaskan water.
I mean…his penis is right in front of me, and I can’t find a single thing wrong with
it. It’s straight and veiny and perfectly pink.

“What’s the matter with you? You have a death wish or something?” he spits at
the statue formerly known as my body. “This is private property.”

His words are serious and firm, and it seems that maybe I do have a dream that’s
reminiscent of the movie Fargo—fingers crossed there are no wood chippers nearby.
Because for as much as I try, I can’t stop looking at my new phallic friend, even to form
a few simple words.
But, come on. Luca Weaver’s freaking dick is right there!
It’s not hard, but still, it’s…big—so big it’s not even a dick.
It’s a Richard. Sir Richard.
King Richard, really.
Shit, I’m in the presence of penis royalty, and I suddenly have the urge to curtsy.
He is a lumberjack fantasy come to life. Instantly, my brain starts thinking about
pine-scented flannel and chopping wood and giving a blow job… Wait…what?

Stop being a moron and speak words!

“Uh…so…you’re…naked.” Oh god, those aren’t the right words!
He glances down, mutters something to himself, snags a towel from a few feet
away, and wraps it around his waist. “I didn’t invite you here,” he says, his voice gritty
with irritation—and maybe, a little with disuse. Which would make sense. It’s taken me
an entire season of Running Wild with Bear Grylls to get here. I can’t imagine he’s
having book clubs and dinner parties and gabbing with his pals on the regular.
Towel adjusted and glorious goods hidden from view, he studies me with frigid
blue eyes and a glare worthy of a scorned woman. I shiver.

“I’m only going to ask you one more time. What in the hell are you doing here?”
I fiddle with the edges of my shirt as I finally find my vocal cords. “I’m Billie…Billie
Harris.”

And I am in way over my head.
