Cursed Soul mates. Supernatural creatures. Small town. Death. Love. Hope. Angst. In Rachel Van Dyken and Patti Stangers book we get all of the above. Benjamin has been cursed to live on Earth and never grow old or die. Instead he is cursed to find his soulmate only to be ripped away again and again. Though he tries to fight the curse each time he never seems to be able to break it, except maybe this time it might be different. 

Rachel and Patti do a great job creating a world where you can lose yourself in and feel like you know. I think if the duo continues this series it could be a great one, however I would have liked to see Benjamin and his soulmate more in the present time, but there was quite a bit of their past lives that I enjoyed like seeing the two of them fall in love. I felt this book could have been split into a duet because there were many parts in the second half that I felt could be expanded. I am intrigued to see if they continue this series because now that most of the world building is done they can focus on the relationship aspects more.  I may add more to this after thinking about the book longer.

Aspen and Grant dated in college until a series of events pushes the two away from each other. 14 years later Aspen gets hired as an assistant, only it's for Grant. A lot of resentment still lingers between the two. Grant is determined to get Aspen to quit, but Aspen needs the money to pay for her grandpa's care. Will they be able to let go of the past?

Honestly, I really liked this book. There was a lack of communication that hurt the duo, but it was believable because it preyed on their insecurities. I thought their were clues to other things the author forgot about later in the book or she just chose a different direction for the story. This was a long book, however I didn't feel as if it was repetitive. I loved that the first part of the book showed Aspen and Grant in college. It showed how they met and how they fell in love and then the misunderstanding that ended up ending them as a couple before going 14 years in the future. I loved seeing the different relationships Aspen and Grant had with their families and how that shaped them into the people they were today. There was also some cameos of Grant's brothers and some quick wit in the story. If you are looking for a enemies to romance to enemies second chance story this book is for you.

Thinking of time and sanity reminds me of the redhead from two days ago. Aspen Hughes was in a ratty T-shirt and faded denim shorts. No makeup or fancy hairdo. But I couldn’t take my eyes off her as she placed her hands on her hips and demanded I do the group paper, her moss-green eyes flashing. Sadie seemed like a lifeless prop by comparison.

That doesn’t really explain it, though. My usual taste is girls with toned bodies who are relaxed and carefree. Even if she does have curves more fitting for a Vegas stripper than a college kid. That body could revive a corpse, and my dick obviously isn’t immune because it’s getting hard at the thought of her.

It’s not the body, my gut whispers. I’ve been around women who were even hotter. It’s just…Aspen looked at me like I was an annoying pest, which people simply do not do. They’re too impressed by my parents—and their fame—to notice or care that I don’t like or respect them. I shouldn’t put too much significance into her actions, though. She probably doesn’t know who my parents are. Once she finds out, she’ll smile and gaze up at me like I’m some kind of minor deity, like everyone else.
