The Final Play- Blog Tour, Review and Excerpt!!

The Final Play isn’t always the end. Sometimes, it’s the beginning of something far more beautiful.

The Final Play, an all-new enemies-to-lovers sports romance from Amie Knight, is available now!

BLURB:

As a professional linebacker, I lived and breathed football.

The only thing I loved as much as the game was my twin brother, Max, who kept me almost as busy cleaning up his messes.

The most recent of which landed him behind bars.

So, it shouldn’t have surprised me when a beautiful woman showed up on my doorstep, claiming to be pregnant with Max’s baby.

Glory was unexpected, infuriating, and flat-out crazy most of the time.

But no matter how hard I tried to deny it, that tiny spitfire slammed into my boring life with the strength of a Category 5 hurricane, blowing through my defenses until she’d carved her name in my heart—permanently.

I feared we would never work. She was a single mom, my brother’s ex, and one more chance for me to fail yet another person I loved.

But if football was my church, then Glory was my heaven.

My Review: 4 Stars

Mason Stark has not had the easiest life, but he puts all of himself in football and his twin brother Max especially since the two lost their parents in a tragic accident. However, Max makes plenty of messes that Mason feels he needs to clean up until he lands in jail this last time. Now Mason realizes he needs to quit cleaning up after Max or he will never learn.

Glory Tolson tracks Mason down trying to find his brother Max to tell him he is going to be a father. She's now 7 months pregnant and hasn't seen Max since the weekend their son was conceived. Glory may not have much to her name but she knows how to survive and won't let anyone boss her around or tell her what to do. Mason doesn't want to disappoint another family member so he clings to making sure Glory and his nephew are being taken care of but Glory doesn't want any handouts.

This was definitely a cute, funny book! I was a little worried about the brother's ex and brother's baby in the womb, but honestly I loved Mason and Glory together and was rooting for them to end up together! Glory made Mason work to get her to stay and didn't let him disrespect her. Mason showed Glory that she wasn't alone and that she's special. This seemed like an enemy to lovers and slow burn romance with lots of comedy. Sometimes there is more to life than Football, but learning to trust the ones around you. I would definitely recommend this book if you are looking for a bickering couple with extreme chemistry!

EXCERPT!

He was the best man I’d ever known and I couldn’t have him. I probably didn’t deserve him, anyway.

Tears flooded my eyes and I paid the cashier as fast as possible before practically running behind the buggy to get to my car. I loaded the groceries, tears trailing my cheeks.

I didn’t even bother to wipe them away. This whole situation was sad. It deserved my tears. Every damn one of them. Because Mason and Glory could never be.

It would be weird and wrong. What the hell would we even tell people? How would we explain? And how would Max feel? I had a feeling it wasn’t good at all.

I climbed into the front seat of my car and held on to my steering wheel for dear life. And sobbed. And then when I was done sobbing , I beat the shit out of that steering wheel and then the dashboard.

Because life wasn’t fair. It just fucking wasn’t and again and again it just kept throwing me punch after punch. How long was I supposed to still stay standing?

I felt like this might be the final punch and it was a knockout. Because I had a feeling that Mason Stark was my person. And I couldn’t even have him.

BLURB:

The heart is exquisite.

You’ll never hear anyone wax poetic over an organ quite like they do the heart.

When you’re lost in the world? Follow your heart.

When your love for someone is unwavering, unparalleled and unprecedented? You give them your heart.

As a lead pediatric cardiac surgeon, I knew better than anyone that the heart is equally as powerful as it is delicate.

The heart giveth just as easily as it taketh away.

And until the day Kelly Potter darkened my doorway that was all just part of the job.

She rolled in like a slow evening storm, fierce and beautiful, fighting for the life of her unborn child.

It should have been business as usual.

I was a doctor.

Her child the patient.

But Kelly was more.

She was the one who got away.

I wouldn’t make the same mistake twice.

It didn’t matter what the rules were.

For once, I was listening to my heart.

The First Score, an all-new, best friend’s brother romance from Amie Knight is available now!

BLURB:

I loved all of life's firsts, which was why I’d been saving mine for one girl, my older sister’s best friend—Hazel Jones.

She was tough and sarcastic with walls around her heart as tall as a football stadium, but I knew she was the one for me.

Desperate times called for desperate measures and I’d have done anything to make her mine.

My Review:
My Rating: 4 Stars

This is the first book I've read by Amie Knight, but won't be my last. This story follows Oliver "Ollie" and his sister's best friend Hazel. Oliver has been in love with his older sister's best friend since he was a kid and now that he's almost through college he's going to finally get the girl. Step 1 is to create a fake online persona and pretend to be the type of guy Hazel usually goes after. What happens when Hazel starts falling for his online persona, will he finally get the girl or will she be mad that he's catfished her?

Hazel has been friends with Scarlett, Ollie's older sister since she was a kid and because of how close Scarlett and Ollie were the three of them became best friends. Hazel has always been able to tell Ollie or "Winnie" as Hazel calls him her secrets. Hazel has not had an easy life, but she's always had her best friends and even though as she gets older she start's caring more for Winnie she just can't ruin her friendship with Scarlett or Winnie. Ollie or Winnie has been patient and waited for Hazel, but now it's time he shows her what she can have with him.

This book was sweet, low angst and just made you root for Ollie to get the love of his life. Ollie is understanding, patient, always there when needed, but he can take control and make you go woah...I want a guy like him. I loved both Ollie and Hazel. Both characters were flushed out and I need to go back now and read Scarlett's story that we got a glimpse of in this story. This is just a great summer read.

Excerpt

“Thanks so much for taking her home, Hazel.” Ollie nudged me to get my attention and I turned to look at him, not having much choice in the matter now. I couldn’t be rude. It was a mistake. The green of his eyes was deeper today, less brown.

I knew it was the jersey. It was always that way. A bead of sweat slid down the side of his face and he ran a hand through his hair like he always did. I knew it was a habit of his, just like I knew so many other things about him.

“You owe me.” I tried lightening the mood like I had with Scarlett. I nudged his shoulder but only came into contact with a pad.

Dragging his bottom lip into his mouth, he raked his teeth over the fullness and his eyes heated. He leaned his face close to mine. “You name it and it’s yours, brat.”

My face flamed and my mouth watered. Lord, he was a terrible flirt and by terrible I meant amazing. I swallowed the saliva pooling in my mouth and stepped back.

“Cut it out, Olls. Quit giving her a hard time. She came all this way so your ass would have a way home tonight.” Scarlett attempted to save me.

He eyed me. “Oh, I haven’t even started giving her a hard time yet,” he said before walking backward down the stadium steps, hot eyes still on me. I was thanking whatever gods were listening that he was walking backward. Please, God. Spare me that ass. I couldn’t handle it after his damn lip trick.

“You’re shameless, Oliver Knox,” Scarlett called down to him.

She wasn’t wrong. Oliver flirted with all the women. I never could tell if he had a preference for a certain kind of girl. If it walked and had tits and a vagina, he flirted.

“Bye, ladies,” Oliver said loudly and jangled Scarlett’s keys over his head before doing the most awful thing in the world to me—he spun around and gave me his ass.

And God, was it a marvelous ass. Immediately my eyes ate it up. Was there anything better than a hot ass in some football pants? It was round and firm and high and I bet I could have bounced fifty quarters off of it. But I didn’t have any change. Damn. That was just my luck.
I was being mesmerized by the twin all white globes when they stopped just barely and my eyes diverted up to see Oliver looking over his shoulder and smiling.

Damn him. He gave me a slow wink before continuing down the steps at a trot. The tease. The bastard. He knew how good-looking he was. It didn’t matter a bit that he was my best friend’s brother or that he was a year and a half younger than me.

Oliver Winston Knox was fine on a regular day, but in a football uniform he was the stuff dreams were made of. My dreams to be exact.
