Is This Love? Teaser Blast

Is This Love? by Kaylee Ryan is releasing March 19, 2024!

NYT and USA Today Bestselling author Kaylee Ryan brings you the continuation of the stand-alone series surrounding five best friends who co-own a tattoo studio. "Is This Love?" is an age gap, marriage of convenience, friends to lovers, small-town romance.

BLURB:

Legend

A marriage of convenience is one thing... but falling for your fake wife is all kinds of complicated.

Being married for a year is the only way to claim my inheritance. I couldn't care less about the money. It's not like I even knew my grandparents.

I wasn't even considering it until Monroe volunteered. Sweet, sweet, Monroe. I've never let myself consider her as an option for me.

She's been tucked safely away in a box labeled forbidden. That is until she takes my last name.

Monroe

It's not like I planned to marry one of my friends... or fall for him.

One minute I offer to be his fake wife, and the next, we're going through the motions-- saying, "I do," and playing house.

Legend is the kind of guy fantasies are made of--tall, dark, and tattooed. Now I'm sharing his bed and his last name for the next year.

Everything looks good on paper, and while this may have started out as playing pretend, the way I feel for him is the realest thing I've ever known.

As the weeks pass by, it doesn't take long before either of us begins to question if we're just friends or if this is this love after all.

Make-Believe Match- Release Blitz!!

Make-Believe Match by Melanie Harlow is now live!

BLURB:

𝗙𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝘆 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗺𝘆? 𝗡𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝘆.

Getting hitched is the only way I can inherit Snowberry Lodge, and I'll do anything to spare my childhood home from the wrecking ball-even wear Devlin Buckley's ring on my finger.

Not that I'll enjoy it.

Sure, he's charming and handsome, and that no-last-names one night stand we shared ended with a fantastically big bang (I saw stars I hadn't seen in six months, if you catch my drift).

But I'll never trust him-he was working for the company trying to bulldoze my life.

Right up until the day he knocked on my door with an offer I couldn't refuse.

Marry him, and he'll help me restore my family's crumbling resort to its former glory-and get revenge on his ex-boss in the process. Once our goals are achieved, we'll go our separate ways.

𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆. 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀. 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄.

𝗨𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝗜 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗜 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝘆𝘀 "𝗺𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗳𝗲."

Once we're sharing a last name-and a bed-our make-believe match starts to feel a little too real.

Overruled-Blogger tour and Excerpt!!

“You gonna catch me if I fall, Becks?”

Overruled, an all-new heat-filled, marriage-of-convenience in The Defiant Kings Series from USA Today bestselling author Bella Matthews is available now!

BLURB:

“You gonna catch me if I fall, Becks?”

I should have known those words, whispered to my best friend’s brother, would come back to haunt me . . . But I had no idea he’d be the only one who could save me when my world threatens to come crashing down.

Becket Kingston is a lot of things. Tall, dark and deliciously handsome, he’s corded muscle hidden beneath an expensive suit, with eyes the color of an angry ocean, and a sharp tongue good for so many things.

And this future US Senator with a brain even bigger than his bank account is about to be my fake husband.

It was supposed to be easy . . . until it wasn’t. This relationship we carefully curated for the public has become something completely different behind closed doors—and the occasional open ones.

I knew we needed to lie to everyone we loved to pull this off.

But how long can we lie to ourselves?

EXCERPT:

Juliette

I wake up the next morning with a killer headache and a foggy memory of last night.

Shots on the beach with Becket Kingston.

A lot of shots.

What the hell was I thinking, drinking like that with him?

I don’t typically have more than a single drink. It’s not worth the hassle. But apparently, that didn’t matter last night. With a bass drum beating a nasty rhythm behind my eyes, I look around the room, quickly realize it’s not mine, and then pull the covers over my head. “No  .  .  .”

The blanket is pulled slowly from my body, and the deliciously gorgeous man in question stands at the foot of the bed. “Get out of bed, Juliette. The plane takes off in three hours.”

I sit up, grateful to be wearing a t-shirt, even if it does smell like Becks. If I thought I could get away with it, I’d try to inhale the intoxicating scent, but he’s watching me. Not all men smell good, but this one always does. Like fresh rain and something else. Something sexy.

“Remind me again why I’m in your bed  .  .  . and your clothes, Becks.”

He drags his sweat-drenched t-shirt over his head and tosses it into an open suitcase. I guess Prince Charming just came back from a run on the beach. My eyes stall, unavoidably glued to his glistening abs. All eight of them.

What the hell is Becket doing with an eight-pack?

He works in an office and wears suits for a living.

“My eyes are up here, Juliette.”

Fucker.

“You’re in my room because you went a little heavy on the shots last night and couldn’t remember which room was yours.”

Relief washes over me in a cool, refreshing wave. Lenny’s brother is fun to fight with, but that’s all he can ever be. “Right. Sorry about that. I can’t believe I drank so much. It’s been years since I’ve wasted carbs on alcohol. I guess it hit me harder than I thought it would.”

I stand up, stretch out my legs, and tug the tee down over my ass. Then I look up at him.

I always liked that Lenny’s brothers are taller than me. It happens less than you think when you’re five foot ten. “So, you let me sleep in your bed? Where did you sleep?”

Becks chuckles a deep, gravelly laugh that sends a tingle down my body. “It’s a king-sized bed, Juliette. I slept on the other side.” Before I can say anything else, he adds, “Nothing happened.”

“Oh, thank God,” I laugh nervously. “Phew. Lenny would have killed me if I defiled you.”

Becket saunters closer and drags a finger up my neck, sending a violent shiver down my spine. “You might want to remember that the next time you decide to strip out of your clothes in front of a man, Juliette. I doubt most would show the same restraint I did.”

For a second, I feel bad.

“But it’s nice to see the carpet really does match the drapes.”

Fuck feeling bad. Now I feel stabby. Asshole.

I grab my clothes off the floor and find my purse on the dresser. “You’ve always got to ruin the nice moments by being a dick, Becket.”

“See you on the plane, Jules.” His lips tip up into a crooked, cocky smile, and if I had any panties on, they’d spontaneously burst into flames. There’s just something about Becket Kingston. Damn him.

I’m pretty sure I growl in response.

Great. One week with the Kingstons, and I’m as feral as the rest of them.

I let myself out of his hut, and yup  .  .  . this morning has officially gotten worse. Lenny, her husband, Bash, and their two boys are talking to her brother Hudson and his wife, Maddie, and their daughter. All of them—even the kids—stop talking as soon as I walk out onto the sand, and I want to crawl in a hole and die. Maybe I should have put my dress back on, but in my defense, Becket’s t-shirt is the same length on my legs as my dress was. I watch as Lenny’s brows shoot up in question before she looks behind me at the damn hut.

And of course, that’s when Becket opens the door.

“You forgot your shoes—” The words hang heavy in the air when he walks into me because I don’t move. Frozen, even though I’m completely off balance.

Becks steadies me with his hands on my hips, and I swallow down my quickly rising hysteria.

Everyone is staring.

“You didn’t,” Lenny hisses, low and mean. Bash ushers her boys down the path toward the main resort before they see their mother explode. “Please, sweet baby Jesus, tell me you did not screw my best friend.”

Oh  .  .  . She’s pissed at him. Oops.

“Really, Eleanor?” Becks taunts her.

“Len  .  .  . we didn’t.” I try to end the conversation before these two get into a fight. “I was drunk and couldn’t find my key. I slept here. Slept, Len. That’s all.”

Lenny eyes me skeptically while Hudson laughs. These damn Kingston men are all such shits. His wife slaps his chest and takes their daughter’s tiny hand in hers. “Come on, Hud. We need to get breakfast before the flight home.”

Hudson tips his chin toward Becket and me. “Bet you two worked up quite an appetite.”

“You’re awful.” Maddie pushes him to move, then looks back at me with a playful smile.

“But I wouldn’t mind hearing about it on the plane.”

“Oh my God.” I blush furiously. “There’s nothing to tell. We literally slept.” I cringe and step away from Becket while my best friend shakes herself out of whatever crazed trance she’s fallen into.

“Whatever.” She throws her hands up in the air and slants her eyes my way. “You’re miles better than Medusa. Just don’t hurt him.” She tosses a calculated look back at her brother.

“Becket is a serial monogamist.”

“Eleanor,” Becks stops her.

I reach out and grab Lenny’s arm. “Seriously, Len. Nothing happened.”

Her oldest son, Maverick, comes flying down the path. “Come on, Mommy. We’re hungry.”

“Mommy’s coming, sweetie.” She scoops him up on her hip and kisses his mop of floppy brown hair, then looks over his head at Becks and me. “We’ll talk about this on the plane.”

I watch her walk away and cringe as I turn toward Becket, who’s holding my shoes with a wicked grin. “She absolutely thinks we slept together.”

“I’ve seen your dates in the tabloids, Jules. You could do worse.” Becks winks and walks away, leaving me in the sand, ready to scream.

Unexpectedly Mine-Blog Tour and Excerpt!

Forget holy matrimony, I’m going to lower my expectations for one night.

Unexpectedly Mine, an all-new steamy and swoon-filled marriage-of-convenience romantic comedy from bestselling author Erin Hawkins is available now!

BLURB:

Emma

Since the man I thought I would be walking down the aisle with broke up with me, I’ve been focused on my business.

As the designer of Emma Belle Bridal Gowns, headlining the Blushing Bride Convention in Las Vegas has been the highlight of my year. And the legendary editor of The Dress magazine wants to feature me in their upcoming issue?

A dream come true.

And it’s my birthday! Nothing can get me down…except maybe my ex’s engagement splashed across social media.

What’s a girl to do other than drink a truck load of champagne and see a male revue show?

When a dancer pulls me up on stage, the chemistry between us is undeniable.

Forget holy matrimony, I’m going to lower my expectations for one night.

One night that just may last forever.

Griffin

One last night…

After twelve years raising my baby sister, Sophie, and dancing for Las Vegas’s top male revue in order to pay bills and ensure she graduates college, I’m ready to hang up my tearaway pants and start a new life.

My intentions were to protect Emma, a captivating and tipsy woman at the show, from doing something she regrets. With chemistry neither of us can deny, the night takes an unexpected turn and we find ourselves waking up married.

It happens. We’ll correct our mistakes and move on.

But with a viral wedding video, our nuptials end up on Page Six, and Emma needs me in New York to play the part of doting new husband for a career-boosting interview.

I’ll play the part, do what she asks, then we’ll part ways.

Emma’s smart, enchanting and beautiful…and completely unexpected.

But right now, I have nothing to offer a woman like her, let alone forever.

EXCERPT:

“TWO MONTHS!! WTF!!!” I say as I type it out.

From somewhere in front of me someone clears their throat.

Caught off guard, my phone slips out of my hand and I lunge forward in an attempt to catch it. With my body no longer being used as a door stop, the metal door slams closed behind me. The ominous sound of an automatic lock clicking into place doesn’t stop me from checking the handle anyway. Yup, locked. Oh shit. The waitress said not to close the door. But then I remember the throat clearing and my attention is drawn behind me. A man has stepped from the dark corners of the rooftop toward the door where the single overhead bulb illuminates him just enough to display his large frame.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you.” He reaches out a hand. My brain isn’t receiving messages as to what for because it’s too distracted by the cords of muscle that make up this man’s forearm. The light brown hair and the prominent vein that runs the length of said arm are the ultimate accessories to his god-like forearms. It’s a body part that shouldn’t make me flustered, but I’ve never seen forearms like his before. Surely this is some illusion, a trick of light or a flex pose made possible by the weight of my phone, a mere five ounces. That’s the reason he’s got his arm outstretched.

“I thought you were talking to someone. I wanted you to know you weren’t alone up here.”

“I was talking to myself,” I say, finally accepting my phone. “Not in a weird way. I was processing out loud. I do that sometimes. Okay, a lot.”

His response is a deep chuckle, which draws my attention upward to his face.

How have I not even looked at his face? Oh, that’s right, I was too busy drooling over the forearm porn he was providing me with. My eyes roam up his body. And in case anyone’s wondering, he’s no Popeye. His forearms are perfectly proportionate to the rest of his muscular frame. He definitely works out. Maybe even plays a sport. Back to his face. It’s good. Better than good. Square jaw, defined nose, enough scruff on his chin to tell the world he’s got plenty of testosterone pumping through his veins. Thick, sandy brown hair that’s long enough to have a slight wave in it. I can’t tell what color his eyes are in the dim light, but when he smiles, they fill with humor and a dimple appears in his left cheek.

I know that because he’s smiling at me right now.

“It’s my birthday,” I announce out of nowhere.

He’s probably thrilled that he’s stuck out here with an excellent conversationalist like myself.

“Happy birthday.”

“Thanks.” The goofy smile that forms on my face is surprising. Why is this guy making me feel giddy? Maybe it’s the champagne.

I realize that I’m a little too excited about being trapped on a rooftop with a stranger. A man with muscles like that could easily overpower me, yet there’s nothing about this man’s demeanor that makes me feel that way. In fact, it’s the opposite. The way he stands with his hands buried in his front pockets, casual and sweet. I’d expect a guy that looks like him to be cocky and self-possessed. My eyes drop to his crotch, then quickly away. Why did I just do that? I was thinking about being cocky and that made me think of…my eyes lower again to the bulge in his jeans. The alcohol running through my veins apparently gives them free rein to ogle men’s crotches.

“Did I just lock us out here?” I motion to the shut door behind me.

“Nah. I’ve got a key.

”“Oh.” I nod. That should be a relief, yet I’m suddenly disappointed that we aren’t stuck out here together. That this isn’t some fated romantic encounter destined for me on my birthday.

“So, we won’t need to lie in each other’s arms to stay warm when the desert temps fall later tonight?”

When I realize what I just said, my cheeks burn with embarrassment, or maybe that’s the champagne gone to my head. And this guy’s sexy smile has gone straight to my lady parts.

The man I fell in love with.

I stopped sending him letters.

A secret flickered to life.

Until a hit and run has me rushing back.

He needs me to be his wife.

He’s gotten himself into trouble, and someone wants to take him down.

One More Chance is the first novel in the Carson Brothers series. This dual point-of-view, small town story is a standalone romance.

My Review:
My Rating: 4 Stars

Simone goes back to her home town after her grandmother was involved in a hit and run. It's the first time she's been back for 10 years except when she had to go to her brother's funeral. She hasn't seen Lucas, her brother's best friend, and the man she loved for many years until now. Lucas is not the same man he was before he went to war with her brother and now the two both need a spouse for different reasons. The two end up agreeing to a fake marriage to help the other one out. The only problem is that they are both dealing with traumatic experiences and nothing is quite what it seems in more than one aspect of their lives.

This was a good story with a bit of a mystery thrown in as you try to uncover who is trying to frame Lucas. I also like seeing the friendship between all of the characters and the brotherhood between Lucas and his brothers and how they took care of each other. I also like how both these characters are struggling realistically with the things in their past. The two of them also have a strong bond that even though it's been awhile they still care deeply for each other and want to help the other one out. I don't want to say too much to give it away, but if you are looking for a second chance romance with some mystery thrown in this is the book for you. I do want to warn you that the author does talk about a few traumatic experiences so please look at the warnings if you have things that trigger you.

The Billionaire’s Guide to The Marriage Deal Sneak Peek!!

If she’s all wrong for him, why does it feel so right?

The Billionaire’s Guide to The Marriage Deal, an all new fun and flirty, fake relationship romantic comedy filled with spice from debut author Piper Marlowe is coming April 28th, and we have your first look!

SNEAK PEEK!

1

EASTON

YOU KNOW WHAT’S REALLY IRRITATING?

Realizing a bee stuck is in your jock strap as you’re stepping up to the plate.

Very irritating.

Tying a girl to the bedpost with an Hermes tie and forgetting it when you leave in the morning. Irritating and also annoying.

But making a presentation to the board of directors, describing why the Taylor Corporation needs to get with the 21st century and how they—we— should do it, only to have your own grandmother murder you in front of the entire room and step over your dead body to state that nothing’s changing?

There isn’t a word in the English language to strong enough to describe this feeling.

Even two hours later, I step out of the glass-and-gold elevators of Murray Loft with an angry black squiggle over my head, stride across the plush velvet carpet, and throw myself into the corner booth like I want to break it.

As usual, I’m the first to arrive, because my two closest friends are degenerates.

That’s usually not a big deal, but today? It’s annoying.

Growing up in Manhattan and spending most of my adulthood in loft after penthouse after rooftop bar with similar scenery, the view’s become an old friend. The East River wants to know why I waste my time at Taylor. The increasingly infamous bridges ask if I’ll ever replace my grandmother as CEO of Taylor. Closer to hand, the Chrysler and Empire State buildings have nothing to say, because a throat-clear over my shoulder captures my attention.

I don’t recognize the brunette at attention beside me. I thought I knew all the waitstaff here by now. Then again, I’m usually not at Murray Loft on weekdays—too busy squeezing in every hour of face time I can in the family offices in order to convince my grandmother that it’s time for me to take over and listening to her tell me it’s not. She thinks I’m a kid.

You’d think, given that she’s nearing a hundred, she would leap at the chance for some R&R. And yet, here I am. Annoyed.

“Can I get you something to drink?” the brunette asks. Unlike most servers at this club, her voice doesn’t have that cloying, faux-sweet customer service tone I’ve come to despise. In fact, if anything, she sounds gruff. Annoyed.

Like an actual New Yorker.

I suppress a smile. Murray Loft isn’t my first choice of hang, but Dylan and Max enjoy the rich asshole vibe. This poor girl won’t last long, but while she’s here, the annoyance in her tone soothes mine. “Just a Coke,” I say. It is only noon.

She arches an eyebrow, as though she doubts my plan to stay sober until a sane drinking hour. “Sure,” is her only comment, before she reaches for the menu laid face-down on the table.

I catch her wrist before she can whisk it away. “I’m waiting on a couple of friends.”

I shouldn’t touch her. Women either hate it or drop right into my lap, and the former often gives way to the latter. But the new waitress seems immune to my charms.

She drops the menu and pulls her hand free without so much as a flush or a stammer. “Be right back with your Coke.”

Then she strides across the floor—and I can’t lie, it takes effort not to stare too much. She has some serious curves. I’m trying to work out the mechanics of that—does she work out to get her ass that tight, or is it a genetics thing?—when a hand waves in front of my eyes. Two familiar barking laughs ring out in unison.

BLURB:

A FAKE WHIRLWIND ROMANCE AND MARRIAGE OF CONVENIENCE WITH THE WRONG GIRL NEVER FELT SO RIGHT

When my grandparents founded the Taylor Corporation, it was to make life better for future generations of Taylors.

But Grandma Sofia doesn’t think said generations are trustworthy enough to take over. “Get married and prove you have an eye to the future,” she said.

“It'll be easy,” she said.

But “easy” is not exactly the word I’d use to describe the new Mrs. Easton Taylor.

Phoebe isn't exactly my type, which is the plan--easy to marry, easy to walk away from. She makes flashcards for fun. She’s mouthy, sexy, and uninhibited. Worst of all, I'm now stepfather to a cat named Roger.

Some would call it a marriage of convenience.

But what I got into is more of a convenience store arrangement… an overpriced, fast, knockoff version of the real thing.

So why do I actually like the cat? And why can't I stop imagining something more real with my fake wife?

Piper Marlowe is an absolute legend, if you know where to look. And trust us, you don’t.

For national security reasons, her identity is a secret. As a matter of fact, there’s a good chance that at this very moment, she’s undercover, speaking with a bad Lithuanian accent to a bunch of shady characters. She can neither confirm nor deny that she’s writing ultra-fun, uber-witty, hot-darn-sexy romance to distract from the stress of her current clandestine operation.

Or maybe romance writing is the cover for a cover?

My Review:
My Rating: 3 Stars

Rhodes and Ryan are hanging out in Vegas with some of their friends and celebrating a hockey win. One thing leads to another and Rhodes and Ryan wake up married the next morning. Rhodes can't afford the bad press that would come with an accidental marriage and Ryan needs some help too. The duo hatch a plan and change their accidental marriage to one of convenience and decide to stay married for a year where Rhodes will help Ryan with her problems and she will pretend to be his wife.

This book did have a few tie-ins with Beauty and the Beast. Rhodes had a grumpy nature and a scar on his face and his teammates called him "The Beast" whereas Ryan was a youtube beauty influencer and her last name was Bell. This was a cute book, but I just wanted more of Rhodes being grumpy and I felt things moved very fast in the beginning. This is the first book I have read by the author and looking at other reviews Rhodes and Ryan had scenes together in Puck Shy and that may be why for me they already seemed to know quite a bit about each other. This book definitely had some steamy times, some humor and of course seeing opposites falling for each other. If any of this sounds like something you would like then I would recommend this book to you.

Say Yes to the Boss-Blog Tour!!

Say Yes to the Boss, an all-new steamy billionaire romance from Olivia Hayle is available now!

BLURB:

My billionaire boss is the absolute last person I’d marry. Until a deal with the devil forces me down the aisle... ready to say yes to the boss.

I once compared Victor St. Clair to Satan, but that’s unkind. Even the devil treats his demons better than St. Clair treats me. I know his schedule by heart. He can’t remember my first name.

So when he calls me into his office, I’m expecting another rant. Instead he says he needs to get married to inherit the St. Clair fortune. Oh, and the kicker? He wants to marry me. His assistant.

A one-year marriage of convenience to the boss I hate.

It means living with Victor’s dark stares and silences for a full year. But it’s also a chance to quit my job and start my own business. He’s a jerk, but he’s also a respected businessman. How hard can it be?

Answer: very. Because there’s more to Victor than I thought. Things beyond learning his lunch orders and sending company memos. And while the man is cold, his kisses are hot enough to consume us both.

He drove me crazy at work. Now he drives me crazy in bed. But craziest of all is… I might get used to being Mrs. St. Clair.

My Review:
My Rating: 4 Stars

Cecilia has been working as an assistant for Victor St. Clair for almost a year now and he still doesn't know her first name so imagine her surprise when he calls her into his office and asks her to be his wife for one year in just name only. The  marriage comes with money that can help her start her own business and Victor will then inherit his grandfather's house. Victor works extremely hard and expects the same of his staff and sometimes shows that with a cold demeanor. As Victor and Cecilia navigate this marriage of convenience they start to feel the chemistry between them and learn more about each other. Maybe Cecilia can bring some warmth to the cold boss.

This was a cute story. I loved how Cecilia stood up for herself and what she deserved. I also loved how the two worked on communicating and not telling lies to each other. The layers that built Victor became folded and showed how complex a character he was because of his past. This was a natural love story that wasn't rushed and was flushed out. I am definitely interested in reading more from this author.

EXCERPT!

"Have a seat, Myers.”

Nerves dance in my stomach, but I do as he says, sitting down on the chair opposite his desk. "I'm sorry.”

Victor looks at me from his computer. "What are you apologizing for?”

"My resume?" I ask. "You saw it? I know I shouldn't have had it in the office."

"No," he says, "you shouldn't have."

“I recognize that, and I’m sorry. Won’t happen again.” I'm about to start cold sweating beneath my silk blouse.

Victor raises an eyebrow. “Despite how unprofessional that might have been,” he says, "I didn't call you in for that"

"Oh."

He leans back in his chair and looks at me in that full, scrutinizing way he'd done the other day. That's twice in a week. I bear the full brunt of Victor St. Clair's intensity, unsure if I'll survive a third time.

"So you want to quit" he says.

"No,” I say. “I mean, I might in the future. This has been a terrific job, truly. But I think I've learned all I can in this position. I’m thinking of finding another job, one more challenging, so I can continue to grow. But that’s in the future.”

“Right. Well, that’s excellent."

I stare at him for a long moment, my heart pounding like I’ve run a marathon. His words don’t make sense. "It's… excellent, sir?"

"Yes. I have a new job proposal for you."

"You do?" He has never expressed anything but disdain or a complete lack of interest in me. Had I managed to impress him? I do everything he asks of me and a lot more he doesn’t.

"Yes. It's unorthodox."

“Unorthodox?”

He braces his hands on the desk. "You know that my grandfather passed a few months ago.”

“Yes, I do. I helped arrange his funeral."

“Right. Well, he left a will."

"Oh."

"A will with certain... stipulations."

This I understand. “You want me to coordinate with the lawyers?"

The lines of his face deepen. "No. I've already tried that for the past half year.

They won’t budge.”

“Oh. Well, I’m sorry."

His jaw works. “My grandfather’s will stipulates that to gain access to my inheritance, I must be married.”

"Married, sir? Is it legal to include that in a will?"

"I doubt it," Victor mutters. His hands clench tight around the edge of his desk.

"But the old bastard got his lawyers to agree. They filed every loophole available to make sure my inheritance is contingent on my civil status.”

"Wow. I'm sorry, sir. I imagine that's difficult.

St. Clair is never going to marry. I know that from working a year with him. Hell, I'd known it after working for him a week. He dated like a tomcat. Over the past couple of months I'd set him up on dates nearly every week.

Not to mention there wasn't a woman in this world who'd tolerate the long hours he worked. The man had even spent Christmas Day in the office and forced me to answer his emails remotely.

And then there’s the issue of his personality, of course.

“It’s ridiculous," he says. "But as it so happens, I've decided to do it"

"To get married, sir? To whom?”

“I’m glad you asked, Miss Myers," he says. There’s a hint of humor in the ice blue of his eyes. "To you."

“You want me to marry you?”

Victor meets my gaze. I've never looked at him for this long before. It's terrifying.

"You want a new job.”

"Not as your wife."

“Marrying me would get you out of this office."

"Yes, but not away from you."

St. Clair blinks once and then his usual scowl breaks, lips curving. Something glitters in his eyes and damned if it doesn't make me more afraid. "I always knew you wouldn't last a year.”

My hands curl into fists, nails digging into the meat of my palm. “Six days from now,” I say, "I will have worked for you for an entire year."

“Well, then you have nothing to lose."

The man is serious. There are a billion reasons why this is a bad idea, but as I grope for them, I say the first one I can think of. "But you're not the marrying type."

The same half curl to his lips. "This would be a marriage in name only, Miss Myers. We would not actually be in a relationship."

“No. Right. I would never... of course not."

"You'd be compensated handsomely for your time,” he says. "You're in quite the bargaining position here, Miss Myers. How much do you want for agreeing?"

“I’m not going to marry you for money.”

"You worked for me for money," he says, voice dropping. "You already trade your time for money. I'm asking for very little of your time for this contract. Only your name, signature, and one year of not being able to marry anyone else. It's a far better bargain than the job you're currently at."

Victor St. Clair is infamous for driving a hard bargain, and he doesn’t relent until the other party accepts. I know. I’ve listened in on more than one of his negotiations, when he pesters and coaxes and intimidates until the person across from him folds. And then he walks away, victory glittering in his eyes, having doubled his fortune.

I just never expected to be the one on the other side.

“But… it’s marriage,” I say, in a brilliant stroke of verbal genius. “It’s not the same as a job.”

“We can decide it is. Come on, Miss Myers. What do you want?” He leans back in his chair, eyes narrowing as he studies me. “An entirely new wardrobe? A year of traveling around the globe? There must be something you want, more than simply out of your current job.”

“You’re really doing this. You’re buying a wife.”

He snorts. “If I was trying to buy a wife, I’d go online. Plenty of people in the market for a green card. No, I want a contract. I want someone I know, someone I can trust to follow orders, who is organized and reliable. Someone who understands exactly what this is.”

“So you thought of me.”

“Well, you submitted your resume.”

“Not intentionally.”

“Does it matter?” he says. “You said you wanted away from me. Well, you won’t have to work for me anymore.”

I stare at him. “But I’d be married to you.”

“You’d have your own bedroom, bathroom and space in my apartment. Your own set of keys. We’d barely see one another.”

“I’d have to live with you?”

St. Clair’s jaw ticks. “One of my grandfather’s rules. I’m aware of how…unorthodox this is.”

“Who on earth was your grandfather?” I shake my head, his desk turning blurry.

“No, sir. I’m not going to marry you. I can’t. I won’t.”

“You can,” he says, “and you will.”

“That’s not for you to decide.”

“No, it’s up to you,” he says, and I know not to trust him, but I look up anyway.

He’s braced his hands on the desk and ice-blue eyes lock with mine. “This is the chance for a new life, Miss Myers. Leave Exciteur. Make enough money from this deal to do whatever you’ve ever dreamed of. If you want no contact with me, I’ll make sure it’s minimal. You’ll be married to me for a year and not a day longer. After all, you’ve lasted one year with me already. What’s one more?”

I stand on hollow legs. His words make no sense, and yet they do, and that’s why I have to leave. Because I know Victor St. Clair gets what he wants.

And he’s not getting me.

“I’m sorry, sir. But I’m not interested.”

“Take the weekend to think on it. We’ll discuss it further on Monday.”

I force the next words out. “No, we won’t. I’m not interested.”

“Of course, Miss Myers. We’ll see where we stand next week.”

I shake my head, more to myself than for him, and head for the door. The bleak, impersonal atrium that is my office has never seemed so welcoming before.

“One more thing.”

I pause, fingers on the door handle. “If you’re asking me to be the mother of your children too, then the answer is no to that as well.”

Silence stretches out. I want to apologize for the words, but I don’t. Because they’re true. Because who is he to demand this of me? He’s my boss.

But he won’t be my husband.

Call Me Crazy-Blog Tour, Review and Excerpt!!

BLURB:

 It was the perfect plan.

I needed a wife--temporarily--in order to inherit the family business.

And she needed a favor--the kind that takes nine months to deliver.

We had it all worked out, from the no-touching policy on our wedding night (her rule) to the no-falling-in-love decree (mine). She’d marry me, I’d give her the means to have the baby she’d always wanted, and one year later we’d amicably part ways with no hassle, no demands, and certainly no regrets.

After all, Bianca DeRossi and I are experts at infuriating one another--we’ve been doing it since we were kids. Trouble is, she grew up gorgeous and feisty, and she still knows exactly how to get under my skin.

And that wedding night? Well, it doesn’t exactly go down hands-free.

Then she moves in with me, and I really start to lose my mind. From her sexy little pout to her wicked sense of humor to those meatball sandwiches she makes just because she knows they’re my favorite . . . I find myself wanting to break every rule we put in place.

Our story was never supposed to end with happily ever after.

But call me crazy, I just might be in love with my wife.

My Review:

My Rating: 4.5 Stars

Enzo needs a wife to inherit the family business while Bianca just wants to have a baby. So why not just join forces and they both can get what they want? Except Enzo drives Bianca crazy and vice versa. They both want something that the other can help deliver and so they propose a marriage of convivence. Bianca will help Enzo get his families business by marrying him and Enzo will help Bianca have the baby she always wanted and if they hate each other it means they won't fall in love right? Except as this scheme continues they start to become friends and there is definitely mutual attraction and even with the rules in place sometimes you can't stop your heart from loving someone else. Will they still part ways after a year or will they realize they love each other and maybe this marriage could work?

I loved how feisty Bianca was. She called Enzo on his crap and I loved that they didn't try to change each other. They just finally got to know each other behind the insults and barbs. Their chemistry was scorching and playful and they just fit together like two pieces of a puzzle you aren't sure are going to fit until you try piecing them together. This is a great story that brings back the other couples from the previous books in the series and gives a glimpse into a possible story that might be coming out too. This book can be read as a standalone, but this whole series so far is really great and I recommend you to read it. There are so many things I could say about this book and how great it is, but I don't want to ruin anything so just go read it. It's a great small town, big Italian families, marriage of convivence, enemies to friends to lovers book. You won't be disappointed, even if at one point you are yelling at the characters to just quit overthinking everything.

EXCERPT

“So how’s your ego tonight? A little bruised, huh?”

“It’s fine,” I said, tightening the knot in my tie. “Reina obviously wasn’t the right choice for a wife. I’m glad she said no.”

Bianca started to choke on her olive. “Wait a minute.” She fanned her face and managed to swallow. “You proposed to—to—what was the little girl’s name?”

“Reina. And you’ve got no room to call someone little, Tiny.”

As I’d hoped, the old nickname drew a brief scowl from her. “We’re talking about you right now. Did you actually propose tonight? Like with a ring?”

I exhaled, regretting I’d mentioned it. “Yeah. I did.”

Her eyes lit up. “Let me see it.”

“No.”

“Why not?”

“Because you just want to rub salt in my wound.”

“For fuck’s sake, Enzo. You’re not wounded. You don’t even love this girl, you just needed to put a ring on her finger so your dad would put your name on the company letterhead.” She held out her hand. “Now give it here.”

Something told me I was going to be sorry, but I reached into my jacket and pulled out the ring box.

She took it from me and opened it up. “It’s pretty,” she said with grudging admiration. Then she squinted at it, pushing her glasses up her nose. “Did you have it engraved?”

I picked up my bourbon and took a hefty swallow. “No.”

“But it says . . .” She set the box down and pulled the ring from the velvet to examine it closer. Then she started laughing. “‘Love Always, Ricky?’”

“Give me that.” Leaning forward, I tried to swipe the ring from her hand, but she held it out of my reach.

“Just a second! I want to try it on.”

I thumped against the back of the booth, picking up my drink again and tossing back the rest of it. Could this night get any worse?

Bianca slipped the ring on her finger—it fit—and held out her hand, studying it.

“So what did you say?”

“I proposed.”

“But how? Like, did you say, ‘You’re the love of my life and I want to be with you forever’ kind of thing?

”“Uh, not exactly. I didn’t want to lie to her. I just, you know, gave her the ring.” I made a grand, sweeping gesture with one hand.

“But you must have said something.”

“What difference does it make?” I asked irritably.

“Look, I’m only trying to help you. You obviously blew it tonight, and by your own admission, you need to find a Lucy for your Ricky sooner rather than later, right?”

I looked around for Lara. I needed another drink. And then a ride home.

“Right?” Bianca prodded me with her foot under the table again. “So let me help you.”

“The only way you could help me is to marry me,” I grumbled, waving Lara over.

“And since that’s out of the question, this discussion is over.”

“Well, wait a minute. Who said it’s out of the question?”

I stared at her like she’d sprouted horns. “Huh?”

Bianca continued to study the ring on her finger. “I’m just thinking out loud here.

But it seems to me we each have a goal, and they could both be accomplished with one simple—fake—relationship.”

I shook my head, as if to clear it, but the fog remained. “I know I’m drunk, but what the hell are you talking about?”

She sighed and picked up her martini for a sip. “I’m talking about the fact that you need a wife to get what you want. I’m willing to be that wife—temporarily, and under the strictest of conditions—if you’ll agree to give me what I want.”

I shook my head. “Oh, no. No fucking way. I see what you’re doing here. I’m not paying you to fake being my wife.”

Bianca rolled her eyes. “Give me a break, Enzo. I don’t want your money. Nor do I need it.”

“Then I don’t understand, ”I said, feeling—once again—completely baffled by a woman. “What could you possibly want that I could give you?”

The smile that crept over those hellfire lips should have been a warning. “A baby.”

She lifts her glass to romance readers and writers from her home near Detroit, MI, where she lives with her husband, two daughters, and pet rabbit.
