Santino Sinacore is done with the mafia life, but he has to do one last job to do for the Chicago mob, the five families of the Cosa Nostra. Andrei Petrov's sister has been kidnapped and Santino is in charge of rescuing her in order to gain his freedom back. When Santino finally reaches Katya, he expects to just save her and be done, however the bosses make him protect Katya and keep her safe while the Italian Mafia and the five families battle it out for power. 

This is the 12th book in the Original Eagle Elite series and while it technically could be read as a standalone, as Rachel does a great job at summarizing everything that happened in the other books, you do miss a lot of important character development by not reading the other books. Katya has had a rough life and is closed off at the beginning, but she wants vengeance for her twin. Katy has decided she is a warrior and will survive no matter what she has to do to succeed. As she gets to know Santino the two bond as he teaches her about the mafia and self defense. Santino does not like the five families and just wants out, but as he spends more time protecting Katya he is forced to get to know the five families and realize the stories he heard about them aren't true. Now he has to decide if Katya is someone he wants to stay close with or if he will leave this life forever. This was a fast paced book with some steamy scenes thrown in. Honestly, I love that when you read one of Rachel's mafia books you can see she really pours her heart and soul into it.

King is arranged to be married to Del and while that is not complicated enough King is actually in love with his future wife, however she is in love with someone else. Instead of just letting that go, King makes Roman her bodyguard because if he is in love with her then he will make sure she is safe. King now has 7 days to make Del fall in love with him and show her the kind of guy he truly is until a tragedy strikes and they have to go back home. Now they have to figure out who the rat in the family is and whether Del truly has King's back or if she will only be with him for appearances sake.

I do not like love triangles, however, I will always read Rachel's books no matter what because she is one of my favorite authors. Unrequited love is usually shown in the woman's perspective so it was nice to see it told through King's point of view. I also love that we were able to see Del struggle and grow into the Queen she was meant to be with the two men by her side. You do get glimpses of the original Eagle Elite members, but again with the other Mafia Royal books this one focuses on the next generation and shows them struggling to step into the shoes of their parents' empire. I did feel about halfway through this book it was not so much a love triangle as different ways of loving people. I enjoyed watching the transformation of King's character and seeing how much he grew to be the leader. It wasn't easy on him, but in the end he showed his inner strength. Like the other books in this series it had love, heartache, a little angst, comedy and all the other characters from the previous mafia books to show how their lives are still changing. I am sad to see this series end, but I know Rachel can't stay away from the mafia too long.

I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is the last book of the Eagle Elite series and the first book in the Elite Bratva Brotherhood Series. This book follows Andrei, the Russian Mob boss who works along side the Italians. This book was darker than the others and as Rachel grows as a writer, her books show that. I was hesitant to start this, because when I was reading the Eagle Elite series I was not a huge fan of Andrei. Rachel changed that. She creates these characters that you think are just jerks and shows the broken pieces of them that make you fall in love and want to protect. If you read Phoenix's book, Andrei is very similar to Phoenix with how broken he is. Seeing the trauma that Andrei went through I understood why he was the way he was and how much he hated that part of him. I love that the Italian men we have come to love play a big role in this book and even though it is the start of a new series I would highly suggest reading the Eagle Elite Series before you start this one to help you understand why they hate the DeLanges and just getting to know the Italian men. Andrei's friendship with the Italian men is hilarious and adds a lightness to this book that was needed.

Now the romance. The romance is not sugar coated, it's raw and real. "That's the thing about love. We don't fall in love with the perfect person; we fall in love despite a person's imperfections." Neither Alice nor Andri are perfect, but they are perfect for each other. Alice goes into the relationship with Andrei knowing that he is a beast and not a good guy. I'm glad Rachel didn't write Alice with her eyes closed to all the evils of the world because if she did Alice would not be the right woman for Andrei. Their relationship is intense and at times frustrating. 

Overall, this was a great start to a new series and I can't wait to see where Rachel takes all these characters. She has set up the next book perfectly and I am excited to see what she has in store for everyone.

     “Kiss me again.”

     “I can’t do that.” I needed to stop doing that.
     “Can’t or won’t?”
     I told myself one more kiss, one more touch. I told myself it would be okay, that I was still in

     That I was above this.
     That no woman had ever owned me.
     No woman had ever taken everything.
     My chest heaved as I stared at her mouth, unable to move, completely rooted to the floor.
     Alice moved her hands to my jeans and slowly unbuttoned them. I didn’t stop her, I needed to
fucking stop her, but it was like I’d drank this paralyzing poison from her lips and couldn’t function,
could only watch her as my soul floated above my body, mocking my inaction, telling me that this would be the end of me.
     The very end.
     Letting her in.
     Keeping her there.
     I would give her everything.

     “You don’t have to—” She let out a gasp, gripping the edge of the granite, turning her hands
white.
      I chuckled darkly against her right thigh and bit. “I’m sorry, what was that? I don’t have to?”

     “Tell me,” I asked gently before I dipped my tongue inside her and flicked.

     Her entire body jerked.
     “Tell me he never touched you like this, tell me nobody has ever touched you like this.”
     “Never,” she rasped. “You.” That word was like a gunshot going off in my soul. “Only you,
Andrei.”
     “Me.” I flicked my tongue again, and gripped her by the ass, pulling her almost completely off

          Envy is a short novella for the 1,001 Dark Nights series. This book takes place in Rachel's mafia world, but can be read even if you haven't read the series. Each book in the 1001 Dark Nights series is to introduce new readers to different authors and different worlds. Envy is Victor and Renee's story. Victor is the mafia's enforcer and he swore an oath to protect the families. Renee is a made man's daughter who is  babysitting for the mafia's families during the summer before she goes back to college. The problem is that Vic can't help but watch the nanny.

         Something happens and Vic ends up being the bodyguard to keep an eye on Renee. Sparks start to fly and even though both try to resist, the temptation is there. Even with Chase trying to push the two together just to get it out of their systems both try to fight the flames of desire. Vic tries his best not to make a move since she is betrothed and he has taken a oath of celibacy for the families. Even though Renee is innocent, she knows what she wants and she wants Vic. Renee knows who Vic is and what he has done and even though she should be scared of this "monster" she doesn't see him as one. This book is sizzling with sexual chemistry, sweetness, a little bit of mystery, and sexual tension. Also, when you see Vic with the kids you will turn into a puddle of mush.

          There's something about a book when you read it twice in two weeks. This book just hits all the right spots and will make you want to dive right in the Eagle Elite series again or for the first time if you've never read the series and will give you a serious book hangover. This book also introduces you to who the next book will be about in the series. Vic and Renee's story is sweet and passionate and will make you swoon. Vic is now one of my favorite book boyfriends.He's tall, brooding and protective. It's hard to write a spoiler free review when I just want to gush about the perfectness of Renee and Vic.

Rating: 5 stars!!!!!!
