This story starts off with Randi being in the white house as VP. We follow the first year of Randi as VP and see how much has changed since she first started the campaign. In this book Randi fights for her morals and the promises she made. While I didn't initially care for Randi I felt closer to her in this book. Maybe I finally understand where she is coming from and trying to fight for what you believe in. If you loved Trey or Trouble in book 1 you will still love him in book 2. He tries to help and protect Randi to the best of his ability even when it might not be the smartest choice to make. We learn more about Trey's past and his family in this book. I also loved reading about Tank and how much he cares for both Randi and Trey and his friendship with both of them. For me this book was better than the first. Whereas, the first book was setting everything up this book had a lot of action, suspense, and chemistry. Plus it ended in a bigger cliffhanger than the first one. I can't wait to read the 3rd book of the series.

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review. This duet begins with Theo aka Derrick Arlington's body double. Theo is supposed to keep a low profile and just pretend to be Derrick for a month, except he gets assigned a bodyguard named Zia and sparks fly. The only problem when your pretending to be someone else and become romantically entangled with that person..the truth always comes out. We end the first book with Zia seeing Theo leaning over a injured Derrick. This book had angst, sweet moments and chemistry. Afterall, you can't expect Zia to automatically forgive Theo for lying to her. There is a push and pull with this relationship.
We do get to know Derrick and he is a complicated person. I love how Nana can tie up one couple's story so nicely while also ending on a small cliffhanger to introduce the next duet.

As I leaned against the wall of the makeshift medical room we'd set up in the penthouse, I thought about the two versions of the man I had started to fall for.

Two versions of one of the richest men in the world. One of them was a billionaire, Derrick Arlington. And the other was someone I didn't know.

And currently, one of them was bleeding all over what looked like a massage table.

I'd fallen in love with a mirage. None of what I'd felt had been real.

As the doctor Royal Elite had on call worked to patch up Derrick, I watched them both. The resemblance was beyond uncanny. They were freaking identical.

No. You can tell them apart.

Right now, I could. But without the scruff and long hair, would I be able to?

It was hard to tell now as he had a cut above one and it was nearly swollen shut.

Heightwise, they looked about the same, but I couldn't be sure. They weighed about the same. And I only knew that because I'd helped drag Arlington off the beach with Theo, who had mumbled some bullshit about me not finding out that way. And sorry, sorry blah blah blah. If I was being honest, the shock had rendered me deaf and dumb right then.

But once the crisis was over, my voice was back, and I had a shit ton to say. Starting with Liar. Conman. Duplicitous fuck.

It didn't matter what form of explanation came out of his mouth. As far as I was concerned, he was full of shit.

My Rating: 4 stars

This is the second book in the BTU Alumni series and the second book by this author I've read. I felt the author did a better job this time going back and forth between the two main characters P.O.V's. Rocky is a physical therapist at her dad's gym where her celebrity crush has just joined as a fighter. I don't normally read fighter romances, but I enjoyed the this one. Rocky is a kick butt woman, who can handle herself in any situation. Gage knows this and doesn't try to stop Rocky from doing her thing. He's also someone who knows what or who they want and goes for it. The chemistry and friendship between the Gage and Rocky is awesome. This relationship isn't just based on looks, but they really get to know each other. Jake and Jordan from the previous book are in this book too so you still get a glimpse into their lives, while introducing more characters of various backgrounds. This series seems like it will have a sports trope for anyone.

My Review:
Rating: 3.5 stars

I liked this book better than the first. Ryan is the middle brother and when he first sees Hope he wants her. They end up getting together and soon a baby is on it's way. One of the problems in their way is Hope is the daughter of the MC President. I loved the chemistry and realness of this couple. Ryan comes off as confident, but once you are inside his head you see how anxious about stuff he is. Hope is not what you would expect as a daughter of the MC President and I liked that. Ryan is still trying to deal with his family drama as he and Hope try to get to know each other better. This was a cute story with just a little angst and honestly nothing too bad. I thought the epilogue was cute too.

I pulled away with a soft laugh. “We better get to the bed before I lose the ability to use my knees.”

“Lead the way.”

I rolled my eyes, grabbed his hand, and pulled him toward the bed. Turning, I sat on the edge of the bed and eyed Ryan expectantly. How did I do this again?

Ryan chuckled as he toed off his work boots. They fell to the floor with a thump. “You should see your face right now.”

“Do I look freaked? Because I feel kinda freaked. I don’t know how to do this. I mean, I’ve done this before—just not this this, ya know?”

“Hey, hey.” Ryan sat next to me on the edge of the bed. “There’s no right way or wrong way to do this. There’s no game plan or checklist or whatever. We just do whatever feels right, whatever you want.”

“Okay.” I gave a shuddering sigh as I looked into his gorgeous eyes. “Then I want you to kiss me.”

“Maybe we should—”

“No. You said whatever feels right. And it always feels right when you kiss me.” I leaned into him and his arm came around my shoulders and settled in a way that just…felt right. “Please.”

Ryan groaned. “Christ. You have no idea what it does to me when you bring out the eyes. You could ask me anything, and I’d probably do it.”

“Then kiss me already.”

He leaned toward me, his lips hovering over mine, and then he whispered, “As long as you promise to only use your powers for good.”

“No promises,” I whispered back.

Ryan’s eyes flared and he groaned. “Fuck me.”

Then his lips covered mine, and I lost the ability to think. All I could do was feel. His amazing lips. The way his hair felt in my hands because I had to hold him somewhere. The way my heart raced when he suckled on my tongue.

Minutes later I was the one tugging frantically at his clothing because I had to feel him. Everywhere.
Ryan’s laugh was husky in my ear and made me want to moan. “I think the only thing hotter than your gorgeous eyes is how eager you are right now.”

I swung my leg over his hips so I could straddle him. Looking into his eyes, I smiled wickedly.
Ryan cleared his throat unevenly. “Uh, I stand corrected. Apparently you can get way hotter.”

The power I felt in that moment… The fact that I had this man, this crazy hot guy, so worked up and just willing to do anything that I wanted? I think I could’ve come from that thought alone.

Then I pulled his shirt up and over his head.

Or maybe the view of his hard, tattooed body would send me over the edge.

I ran an appreciative hand over the art covering his chest and arms. The heart on his left pec with “family” written in script. The flamed motorcycle racing down his arm. And the muscles. Sweet baby Jesus, the muscles! He had so many muscles I couldn’t even…

He took advantage of my temporary paralysis and tugged my shirt up and over my head. A reverent expression stole across his face. “Ah, Hope. You’re just…”

He trailed off in a groan before he took my lips again in a harsh, hungry kiss.

I ached to feel those lips on my nipples. Unconsciously arching toward him, I moaned into his mouth. Finally I couldn’t take it anymore. I reached behind me to unclasp my bra but my fingers were swiftly batted away by Ryan’s. He made quick work of the clasp and then my bra was falling down my arms, baring me to Ryan’s hungry eyes.

“Christ, they’re even more gorgeous than I imagined.” He lifted a hand and cupped the underside of my left breast.

My cheeks heated with his compliment. Or the contact. I didn’t know which. I bit my lip and looked down at where his tanned, calloused fingers held my pale breast. “You’ve been thinking about my boobs for a while?”

Ryan groaned and brushed his stubbled cheek against my nipple. “All night. And occasionally when I was alone the last few months. I couldn’t get you out of my head after that first night. How you looked. That scent. The way your voice sounded.”

“And my boobs?” I teased. But still, I was caught by the way he remembered me. I’d had such an impact on him that he thought about me, too?

“There’s no way to get these babies out of my mind.” Ryan murmured as he rasped his cheek against my hard nipple again. Then he finally stopped teasing me and gave what I craved. He captured the tip of my breast in his mouth and suckled hard.

And I melted. I think I groaned or something. I know I burrowed a hand into his hair and held him against me. Like I was afraid he’d try to get away.

Ryan pulled back—as much as my greedy hands would let him—and blew gently on my wet nipple before turning his head and laving attention on my other, poor, neglected tip.

I closed my eyes and let my head fall back as the sensations shrouded me. I wanted more. I wanted deeper. I wanted him all. My thighs clenched and I was seconds away from my second orgasm of the night when Ryan pulled away with a groan.

Ashley and Brayden are not the same kids they used to be. Ashley is struggling to hold her life and her family together. Brayden is a big shot baseball player who has injured his shoulder and has come home to get back his girl. This book broke my heart and pieced it all back together. I couldn't blame Ashley for how she reacted after seeing Brayden again and I loved how Brayden fought for Ashley's forgiveness. This book hit a raw spot with me and something I am still coming to terms with. I won't give it away because it is a pretty big spoiler. Maybe that's why this book resonated so deep inside me. Harlow did a great job at writing her characters and you could feel the pain, heartbreak, anger, frustration, chemistry, and forgiveness throughout the various characters. I hope Harlow writes more books on these characters because I would love to read Nathan's story next. This book is angsy and real and at times you get frustrated with the characters, but that's the best thing when you are reading a book. That means the book means something to you. This was the perfect ending for Ashley and Brayden and that's all I could ask for from this author. Also, the fact that this is Harlow's debut duet I will definitely be checking out more of her work when she releases it. Read below for an excerpt.

I pumped the gas pedal a half-dozen times, trying to will the thing back to life, as I coasted to the gravel shoulder on the side of the road. I slumped forward, resting my forearms and brow against the oversized steering wheel, locked inside disbelief of the shittiest luck possible. I’d become one of those blow-up punching dolls with the sand in the bottom. The kind fists keep pummeling ’cause the stupid thing never has the sense to stay down.

Begrudgingly, I popped the hood release and hopped down out of the cab. I had no clue how to diagnose the problem, but broken-down suckers on the roadside always pretend to look at the engine.

I played along.

Stepping up onto the rusted front bumper, I stared at the pile of dirty metal while daydreaming about tossing a match inside and walking away. At least bending over under the hood shielded part of me from the rain.

The sound of tires crunching through the gravel behind the truck brought a sigh of sweet relief. I looked back up at the heavens and felt bad for not trusting my angel to send help. Jumping down from my perch on the bumper, I brushed my hands down the front of my khaki shorts as I rounded the front of the cab to call out to my hero. Cruel disbelief blossomed in the back of my throat.

“You’ve got to be shitting me. This is not happening.”

He’s still in town?

It had been almost a week. A week of trying to make myself believe our run-in at Foxy’s was just another bad dream. Six freaking days of convincing myself life couldn’t possibly be that cruel. I’d avoided the town gossip machine buzzing furiously about his sudden return. But no one else would drive that car. It looked like money on wheels. The black paint and sleek lines made my truck’s chipped blue exterior and scratched marina logo look even more pathetic. Some folks in St. Michaels had seen a Maserati.

Nobody in town drove one.
Certainly not one with New York plates.

I lifted my face to the rain, letting it wash away my urge to cry, as the driver’s side door popped open, and my worst day of the week took a turn for my worst day ever. He was dressed casually in a pair of shiny black athletic shorts and a plain gray sweatshirt, slightly frayed across the bottom hem by time and fondness. The hood bunched up around his neck, framing the sharp jawline that sported thick, dark scruff.

Brayden Ross turned gym-rat attire into the costume of a sex god.

He suffered from that strange anomaly that saddled people with fame and fortune. As a little girl, I’d seen it in his father and his father’s friends. They seemed crisper around the edges or something. Like brand-new bills freshly spit from the ATM instead of crumpled dollars that spent life stuffed in back pockets and sweaty bras.

My Review:

I received an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. I enjoyed this book. This is the second book in the red card series, however it can be read as a stand alone. This book focuses on sports agent Matt Kingston and soccer player Parker. Matt's sister Willow uses Matt's lack of focus on their conversation to gain her and Parker a invitation to stay at his house until Willow's trial period of being an intern in Matt's company is over. Matt practically raised Willow and their relationship of annoying younger sister to older brother is hilarious and adds a lot of humor to the story.

Parker is trying to get on a new team after having problems with her last team and being labeled a hot head. Matt views Parker as a client, which makes her off limits and added to the fact is that she is younger than him. Parker had a bad experience, which makes her distrust men. In the beginning Matt is a little bit of a jerk to Parker, however, once he starts to watch her and learns what happened to her he becomes her confidant. The relationship between the two is more than just lust and is based on feelings too.

 This story has the perfect mix of comedy, angst, romance and lust. I feel Rachel touched on a matter that happens to many women not just in sports, but in other areas and handled it very well. I was glad to see that Parker was able to stand up on her own and become a hero to other women who have gone through something similar to what happened to her. I hope Rachel writes Jagger and Willow's story.

This book releases June 11, 2019 and I highly suggest you pre-order it for a great summer read.

Rating: 4.5 stars

After reading the first book of this series I had to get my hands on the other two books. This book takes place right after Stone. This book focuses more on Levi and Ivy's relationship. This book contains more angst and the cliffhanger at the end seriously almost made me pull an all nighter and finish the series.

In book 2 Levi knows he messed up and he was an ass. Levi is trying to get Ivy to understand his past and how he became the man he is now. I loved Levi finally sharing his past with Ivy and I loved that Ivy didn't just automatically forgive him. He had to work for her forgiveness. Ivy stayed true to herself and even though she was still stubborn most of the times I felt it was realistic. I loved seeing the sisterhood of Ivy and Cami and even though their relationship was strained at times it felt natural. In this book the past comes back to the present and the cliffhanger will make your heart drop and reach for the third book to continue the series.

I will say this book was a little predictable, but I am so excited to start the third book.
